This is a gorgeous hotel, unless the swimming pool is important to you. We loved our room and the service was fine, the breakfast buffet excellent, and the beds were the best in China, but the swimming facility was completely unsuitable for children and looked very dirty.

I am happy to provide comment. The booking serive provided by TCG was excellent - especially the ability to have bookings made through a single point of contact rather than having to deal with the various hotels individually. Not needing to make payment prior to arrival was also reassuring. Your confirmations were timely and in both cases the hotels were expecting us and had all details of quoted rates and etc. Of particular value was your inclusion of hotel address details in Chinese language for taxi purposes.

Both hotels we used were of a very high standard and offered high levels of service. In each case we chose the hotels based more on location than facilities offered. We were not disappointed. The Hongfu hotel in Urumqi is centrally located and an easy walk to shopping, Peoples Park, Red Pagoda and other points of interest. At night time the street at the front of the hotel operates as the night market offering great dining and market shopping opportunities. We really enjoyed our stay there. Likewise the Victory Hotel in Guangzhou is in a great location on Shamian Island with lots of nearby attractions including the Peal River waterfront, walking access to the metro system and lots of local restuarants and other attractions.

Overall we had a great stay and thank you for your assistance.

1) The Victory Hotel in Guangzhou was excellent. The room was a good size and attractive. The hotel staff were helpful.

2) I have used TravelChinaGuide services previously and have found the service to be good. The thing that stands out for me is the helpfulness of your staff. On our recent trip to China we were trying to find an addition stay in a hotel in Guangzhou during the Trade Fair. Even though there were no hotels available through yourselves (and your staff tried many many hotels for us and called us back promptly) your staff were able to give us a phone number of a hotel who were able to have us for 6 hours in the afternoon to enable us to do some final shopping before our evening flight from Guanghzhou airport. Many thanks. We would be pleased to use you again.

The hotel is terrific. The front desk people spoke excellent english which is much better than other hotels. The hotel is set among other historic buildings. And off of the main roads. About 50 feet of water seperates the hotel site from the main road which helps keep it away from all the noise. There are a lot of trees, and open areas. Which is very relaxing. I wish I found this hotel on my other trips to guangzhou. I highly recommend it.

Guangzhou is the most polluted city I have ever experienced. However, Shamian Island is much better than the center, quiet and beautiful. Compare to the famous White Swan, Victory's room price is much more reasonable. The room we got was on the main building, which was the new one. Our room was very spacious. And our beds were very very soft (that's very unusual in China).
Our only complaint was that the shower got cold suddenly and need amendment.

Hotel staff all were very kind and helpful. We would like to stay again in this hotel.

I would rate my experience with the Victory Hotel as a very positive one. The facility's lobby is kept very clean and the staff that attends to this duty appears to be highly effective and kind. We were given very good assistance through the staff at the front desk when we asked about exchanging money and how to find area attractions. The dining room staff was courteous, friendly and very very efficient. We enjoyed all of the meals we ate at your hotel. We enjoyed that the dining room staff seemed to remember us and ask how we were doing. The location was beautiful. Our room overlooked local school, it had caged birds on the roof, we enjoyed watching them during the day. We felt the location of your hotel on Shamian Island was perfect. We felt we were on a delightful holiday, the surroundings are very picturesque and the neighborhood is warm and welcoming. We enjoyed walking about the island watching people live their daily lives - people playing badminton, exercising, children completing their morning school exercises. We were able to spend time at the local park with our newly adopted son (he is three years old), he enjoyed watching the other children play. We truly appreciated our stay at your hotel.

The booking experience was very good. Each time I sent emails, the response was very fast. I was concerned at first about determining which room I would stay in. I requested one room and you suggested others. I am so glad I listened to you, because you were correct in your suggestions. We stayed in a suite and were grateful ChunYun had a place to take a nap in the after noon while we watched tv in the other room. Thank you for the kind suggestion. I think your service is very good. I hope to return to China many more times.

The Victory hotel provides excellent value. The view was not up to much, but the room was fine. Clean and functional. The in-room facilities are standard - TV, internet, fax, mini bar, double bed, safe and even a water purifier. The bathroom was not exactly designer standard, but was clean. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion provided.

The front desk and bell staff were courteous and helpful. The rooftop pool is clean, but you wouldn't want to spend too much time up there considering the air quality. The hotel has a spa, but it is of low standard. There is a Chinese medical center within 10 minutes which provides excellent foot massage and acupuncture services.

The breakfast buffet is plentiful, but the quality is weak. If I visited again I would get a room without breakfast and get a coffee around the corner at Blenz cafe which is a 5 min walk away.

Be aware that the hotel is well attended by couples in the process of adopting children. Therefore, the hotel and many of the nearby restaurants (Lucy's) often resemble a playpen.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Shamian island is a serene escape from the bustling city. Make a point of walking over the pedestrian foot bridge and check out the Quinping market. It's not for the sqeemish. There are turtles, scorpions, and many other animals on offer.

I appreciate that TCG always answered my questions very promptly. This is important to me. I stayed at the Victory Hotel about 6 years ago and it is still an excellent hotel. Shamian Island is a good place for tourists. I will use your agency the next time we travel again to China.

the Victory hotel was great!!! The staff was very very friendly and always willing to help. The hotel has beautiful surroundings and the quality-price relationship is great. The rooms (standard and upper standard) where I slept were well equiped with minibar, t.v., a machine with hot and cold water and tea bags. All I could need for my stay there.
