Harbin Romantic Hotel: Good service but the hotel need major renovation. The only thing nice about the building is the reception area. it needs new carpets through out, room furniture are old, bathroom need renovation. The hotel is near shopping centre but a bit far from the river, approx 45 mins walk.

The location of the hotel is the only outstanding feature of this hotel - 1 street away from the pedestrian mall and an easy walk to the nearby sights. The quality of the rooms can be described as old and tired and in need of a desperate refurbishment. I saw 6 rooms as I was not happy with the first I was taken to and when I moved again the next day due to not being able to turn the heating down, I was still in a room that had cigarette burns in the carpet and stains. The chairs were stained, wall paper peeling, the air conditioning in my first room looked as if it was going to fall out of the ceiling. The wooden desk and side table had bits of wood peeled away. There was no satelite TV - only Chinese channels. The hairdryer, I requested and that delivered was broken and I was told they only had one, however they managed to locate another one and it was placed in my room. Windows have been taped - I imagine that would be for the winter. The refrigerator did not worked. Bathroom tiles were cracked and the shower curtain was in need of replacing as it was stained.

One shining star in the reception team - a young lady that did speak some english, however we ended up communicating through an internet translation sight was extremely helpful and accommodating. She and the location of the hotel was the only 2 reasons I decided to stay for the 3 days that I had booked.

I would not return to this hotel unless it was refurbished and brought to an acceptable standard of a 3 star Chinese property.

Harbin Romantic Hotel

I'm used to staying in hotels in Southern China, which have much higher standards, as this is the first hotel I've stayed in Northern China it would be difficult for me to give an objective view, but here are my opinions

Staff at the front desk had very limited English, but tried their best to be helpful and were very friendly. Facilities are what one would expect from a three star hotel in the North East of China. The room was spacious, with the usual facilities, cleanliness was average, but acceptable, room service was very good and reasonably priced. Location is this hotel's winning point, close to the river, with many buildings of historical interest, a good range of shops, some excellent eateries nearby and some nightlife for those wanting something to entertain themselves into the small hours. The hotel is only a 20 Yuan ride from the main railway station, would I use this hotel again, yes!

One suggestion, the request for a review should be sent much earlier so the experience is still fresh in the customers mind. That said I was most pleased with your booking experience, which impressed my Chinese partners who suggested I should just go Harbin, no problem to book a hotel they said, then they saw how well my booking worked, I got face, always useful in China.

The location of romantic hotel is pretty good, just in the city center and very near by the railway station. There is no problem to call a taxi. Room was ok, staff couldn't speak good English but very attentive to help. The most disappointed thing is their soundproof facility. I always hear the noise from the corridor and next door.
