We stayed for 6 nights altogether and although its not the cleanest of hotels, its okay and definately good value. In the city and near 94 bus stop, and that goes to subway train.
It's a lot easier to navigate if you can speak Chinese. Its quite modern and has a young atmopshere - lots of Chinese couples.

I have to spend a night in Shanghai ...
I have to spend a night in Shanghai for connecting flight so I figure a less expensive hotel will do. Definitely a big mistake! Motel 168 is definitely for the locals, air con not cold, bed rock hard, I had half a roll of toilet paper to start with, called for more, ever came! Internet extra which is standard for Shanghai only, rest of the country all hotels I stayed in were free. Internet cost RMB 60 extra a day, what bugs me is they wanted another 5 RMB for the cable when most others are free or wireless. Advise is to spend a couple of hundred RMB more for a 4-star up hotel even just for one night of rest! I will for sure next time.

The internet broadband service is ...
The internet broadband service is so expensive, I think this hotel is not ideal for the businessmen. And the bed is hard. All this, I think because the room rate is cheaper for the walking clients.
