This hotel have only 2 good points: 1) convenient situation - near railway station and many bus/tram/troll stops, port is in 4 bus stops range 2) not very big prise.
On the other hand we have: 1) dirty area near hotel, hotel itself and shabby rooms. 2) Sluggish staff.
So, if you need just place to sleep in convenient place, then this hotel is fine.

THE HONG FU TRADE AND TRAVEL HOTEL, IS A BASIC CHINESE HOTEL, SITUATED IN THE CENTRE OF DALIAN AND IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. THE ROOMS WERE CLEANED DAILY AND THE SHOWERS WERE EXCELLENT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE STAFF DID NOT SPEAK ANY ENGLISH.
THE SERVICE THAT I RECEIVED FROM TCG WAS FIRST CLASS. WHEN I WANTED TO EXTEND MY CHECK IN TIME, A LADY PERSONALLY PHONED ME TO CONFIRM THIS AND THEN SENT AN ADDITIONAL EMAIL WITH THE DETAILS. IN ADDITION, SHE GOT ME A REDUCTION IN MY ROOM RATE!
I WAS MOST IMPRESSED WITH YOUR PROFESSIONALISM AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE YOUR SERVICE AGAIN.

Cheap and very near the train station but, even so, difficult to find when I stayed there the entire building was covered in some green fabric (I assume it was being renovated) and there were no signs outside. English service was limited but, as I speak Chinese, it wasn't an issue for me but might act as a disincentive for other foreigners. I booked an interior room (no window) which was very cheap but a mistake because it was uncomfortably hot and the air-con was pretty much useless.

Easy to reach from the airport by bus (if you can find out which number and where to pick it up) The staff was helpful with this even though English communication was not easy (but good enough). All town buses and the local light rail are just outside the hotel. However, if you are looking for a full service hotel with English assistance this is not the place for you. It gave me access to all the local sights, and the main shopping area as well as the CBD is within walking distance. The hotel itself is a good place to sleep and maybe get something to eat if you like local fare. Friendly staff but also a busy hotel and very few people in the area speak much English so it might currently be for the more adventurous traveler. The price is quite reasonable all things considered.

I came to Dalian in 2006 (first time to China) and then again in 2007 and 2008. Every time I preferred this hotel which I booked through TRAVEL CHINA GUIDE.COM . Excellent service from this company (TCG). well done TCG: very efficient staff and quick response from TCG. Transportation between the hotel and the airport, the train station is very convenient. I enjoyed this advantage of the hotel. The hotel room (without window) is not spacious but very clean and comfortable. The room with a large window is of course specious, the facilities in the room are not modern but all work very well. Breakfast is OK. The hotel staffs are very helpful and kind. I would like to stay at this hotel again.
