The hotel is a part of the former Sincere Company, has a long history of over seventy years and has been one of famous hotel in Shanghai. It enjoys a good location-located on Nanjing Road, famous street in Shanghai. Some of Shanghai's most famous sights are within walking distance of here including the Shanghai Museum, the Bund and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The hotel has been modernized with improved facilities. I enjoy very much my stay in Shanghai. Booking through TCG was swift and easy.

The hotel is located at the center of the famous shopping area (Nanjing Road) and near the People's Square. So you would expect some noise coming from the street as early as 5am. The hotel is also very near the Subway stations. Traveling is convenient. Travel to Pudong International Airport takes less than 1 hour. Cost RMB44/person only. (Subway RMB 4 and Maglev bullet train RMB40). Very convenient. It is also within walking distance to Shanghai Bund.

I speak Mandarin, so I had no problem communicating with the front desk. I considered the hotel service was reasonably good.

The room was clean, except the furniture was a little old. With such a rate, we should not demand much.

For further improvement, I think the hotel management should consider changing the bed matress as it was a little uneven.

Very good location, but the serivce is moderate, and the room amenities is simple. I only stay one night at East Asia hotel, no complain anyway. If you just want to find a cheap hotel, yes, you got it.

This hotel is nice and clean and you get what you pay for. I have stayed in this hotel in 2004 and 2007. Try and book in the NEW WING, NANJING ROAD side. Which is much better than old side.

the hotel is situated right on nanjing dong lu, the main shopping streeet in shanghai.
