My family and I visited Sanya in this winter. And I would like to say the grounds were beautiful and the pools were excellent, and without a doubt the location of this resort on the beach is wonderful. However, the fact about the Gloria Hotel in Sanya is that you don't always get what you pay for. Especially during the New Year ? Day or Chinese spring festival, the price is MUCH higher than normal. The service at the front desk was no where near 5 star standards, and although I live in Shanghai and can speak a little Chinese, I did wonder how many tourists would communicate with most of the staff who could not speak English. Overall, I really like sanya city, but may not stay at this hotel next time. Guest Name : Ben Raymond Updated : 2008-1-30 We recently spent 2 enjoyable nights here. The room was very nice - better than our expectations, including great air-con. The pool area is really nice with a choice of pools and plenty of sun-loungers. The food here was very good. On a Saturday night they host a barbeque which includes an individual hot-pot. Basically each diner has a heated pot which is filled with a light broth. You then choose all of your own raw ingredients including a great range of seafood, meat, vegetables, herbs & spices and then put it all in your pot to cook. All of the staffs here were excellent, very attentive and with really good English. This large resort is a 15 minute taxi/bus ride from the city of Sanya. The hotel provides a free shuttle at 10am daily, but you'll have to get a taxi back (unless you want to stay in the busy city for 6 hours). We walked around all of the hotels in Yalong Bay & the Sheraton was in a different class to anything else but this hotel was by far the best of the rest.
