I have stayed at the Golden Crown Hotel 10 times since May 2006. I like the hotel because the staff usually speaks English and they are very friendly and want to give you good service. I really like their laundry service. The beds are very comfortable and I sleep very nicely. The rooms are very clean and decorated nicely. It is very convenient to have filtered water and not worry about drinking bottled water. Every time I made a request of the staff, everything was done in a timely fashion. I really like their breakfast in the morning. They ALWAYS remember that I want decaf coffee, even if I have been away for a few months. I really like the Korean Beef and Pork at breakfast. If you are nice and polite to the staff and management, they will do anything for you. I like their new point system for frequent visitors. Yes this is a 5 Star hotel and I want the windows NEVER to open! I feel safe walking around the hotel by myself. There is a very nice bakery across the street and I usually stock up on goodies. (A little kindness and friendship from the hotel guests will do wonders for you.) I highly recommend staying at this hotel and never look to go to any other hotel while in Tianjin. It is nice to stay at a tall Gold Building which is a landmark in Tianjin. Its central location allows for short taxi rides to local restaurants. I highly recommend Jackie鈥檚 Streak House down the road and another place near there which I call "Red Couch" because of their seating. I feel like the Golden Crown Hotel is my home away from home in China.

I stayed in this hotel in May 2008. I would not stay there again Because of the simple fact that there are no windows in the room to be opened. That made the air very stuffy. Apart from that, the air-conditioning didn't work well. It was very warm, we kept sweating in the room. If one doesn't care about that, the hotel might deserve its 4 (Chinese) stars. The staff was trying to deliver a good service. I appreciated the fact that we were able to stay with four persons in one standard room with extra-bed (my wife, her sister, our infant and me). It caused no problem for the hotel and saved us some money.

Breakfast was average for Western taste. The location is good, very central. Next to it is an Excellent Korean restaurant. All in all, this hotel gives me the impression that it had been built 10 or 20 years ago, when it was state-of-the-art and then left as it is. I.e. it lacks the spirit of "in search of excellence" and of keeping improving. A capital sin is the window problem, that alone deducts two stars for me, and I guess, for many Westerners too, who care for - to say "fresh air from outside" is probably an illusion - but at least for some ventilation in the sense of being connected in some way with nature.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Sir, we do have contacted with the Golden Crown Hotel, Tianjin and were informed that the hotel was opened in 2004, and all the rooms were redecorated in Jan 2008. This hotel is approved by the China Tourism Bureau ranged as the five-star hotel according to the hardware (hotel facilities) and the software (hotel service). Hope for your kind notice.

All the rooms in the hotel have windows, however, in view of safety for guests, the windows can not be opened, which is the policy of the hotel.

2) The rooms are clean.
3) Service is O.K.
4) Location: central. Next to it is a good Korean restaurant.

Breakfast was average. Although plenty of choice, little for Westerners.

Not good:
1) The windows cannot be opened. Thus, the air in the room is very stuffy. Apart from that, the air-condition didn't work well. We were sweating in the room.

I stayed another 10 days in June of 2006. I really like this Hotel. It is clean and the staff are nice. I met Elizabeth, the Guest Service Manager and she was very nice and helpful in giving us information about the Hotel and Tianjin, China. The breakfast meals continued to be good and are part of the room cost. I did not have any problem using RMB to pay for some of my room expense. There was one problem with the Internet one morning and the staff worked real hard to try and fix it. As it turned out,the whole building had a problem. It was fixed when I got back in the evening. I highly recommend this hotel to USA / English speaking guests.
