Hotel Information
General

In terms of comfort, location, and value for money, this Thai-managed hotel is the best choice of all the hotels outside the old town. For a three-star establishment, the large rooms are remarkably well outfitted with a range of amenities, including in-house American movies. The marble bathrooms are spacious and clean. Rooms on the north side have magnificent views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain range, while the old town is just outside the front door, within walking distance of many scenic spots including the Dongba Cultural Center and Black Dragon Pool.The Grand Lijiang Hotel has 126 guestrooms with fully equipped modern facilities. The Chinese restaurant offers Cantonese food and Naxi food, the Western restautant manageed by a Thai Chef offers international and a wide variety of western cuisine. You can also enjoy beautiful views from our Lobby Bar beside the murmuring Jade River. Further, we have a modernized Business Center open 24 hours everyday.The lobby lounge is also pleasant and the Paradise Club, is the hotel's own nightclub.

Hotel very convenient for the Old Town, staff generally friendly and helpful.

BUT management is dishonest regarding the heating (which is needed during Lijiang nights). Heating was promised - but, after I had been in the room for just a few hours it was turned off. Despite repeated requests, over several days, nothing was done. One front-desk staff member rudely told me to wear a coat! A cleaner confided to me that the reason was high oil prices. OK - but be honest and tell guests there will be no heating, then we can choose a cheaper hotel!

+++ TCG reply:
Dear Mr. ROY GARNER,

Thank you for your kind and sincere feedback. We do have contacted the hotel about your complaint.

We were informed by Miss Zhao in the Sales Department of the hotel that due to the shortage of oil during your stay period, the heating was not available all day. However, they are really sorry for having made you unsatisfactory and they would like to apologize for your unhappy experience as well as the inefficient front-desk staff.

Please feel free to contact us should you need any help or any info.

Best Regards,

Lena Qian

I have stayed at the hotel last year for two days. The hotel is very common as a three star hotel. Location is good. Service and facilities are ok. Overall, the hotel is acceptable. However, we would like to try others next time. Thank you or your booking service.

Generally the hotel was nice, breakfasts were good, reception service was excellent, including relatively good english speakers.

However, there is a noise issue. DO NOT stay here at any time during festivals as the hotel is right next to an outdoor restaurant area where performances and music went until 1 or 2 am, and it is nearly impossible to sleep (and we were in a room on the far side of the hotel away from the noise.) I dont know if this also occurs outside festival days. My advice is stay on the south side of the town where it is quiet, cheaper and you can get away from hordes of tour buses.
