Nicely located in a quiet residential area and away from crowd and noise. Room is very nice and comfortable and the view from my window is great. Staffs are well trained, very courteous and friendly. The level of the English-speaking attendants at restaurant is beyond my expectation. Foods are delicious and exquisite, really enjoys it. I'm lucky to have chosen this hotel for the stopover during my Yangtze River Cruise. It's very relax and worthy to stay again. We stayed there two nights and my only regret was I should have stayed a couple more. Our stay in the hotel was perfect! Near enough to the city center (With a taxi about 5-10 minutes drive through a tunnel, for less than 10 Yuan. This is less than an Euro!). The main building has been opened last year and the rooms are great. Spacious, well equipped. Very Nice garden. When we stayed in the hotel, the Chinese restaurant served very spicy dishes, so be prepared or try to ask for a "mild" version. Compared with Europe, the Western restaurant is good enough, but not exceptional in quality. We had similar experiences as an earlier comment on this site: Our son became ill during our stay and the assistent manager (Cindy) accompagnied us to the hospital and stayed there the whole day and evening (until we, luckily, could go back to the hotel with our 8 year old son). Summarized: When you need a hotel in Yichang, we can definitely recommend Guo Bin Garden Hotel! Easy access to all parts of town and country side. Only slight negative is hotel is not set up for the real tourists (more for local conventions and meetings). They have little information on travel/tour around YiChang. We asked to rent a vehicle for the day and they have none, nor offered to find us one. For the ones that does not know Chinese the English translation on the menu at the restaurant was hopeless but be advanturous, just pick a few dishes, I assure you they are all great! But more importantly the friendly staff made our stay more enjoyable. The staff should be complemented. The Hotel has many amenities and game rooms which are available to guest to use. We had a situation where our 9 year old daughter got sick and we called reception at 11pm at night to see if we could get a Doctor. The Night manager accompanied us to the local children's hospital and stayed with us all night whilst our daughter was put on a drip and received medication. As we could speak no Chinese Eric provided translation service for us. We would not have been able to cope without him. This was going above and beyond the call of duty.
