Thank you for providing the opportunity to give some feedback.
This was my first TravelChinaGuide booking and I am happy to provide answers to the two questions in your email.

Q1. How do you rate this overall staying experience about Jiangxi Hotel, Nanchang (including the facility, staff service, location as well as surroundings.) Would you like to let us know your reviews in details?

The Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang lived up to my expectation; having seen it from the outside last year. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were always able to find a staff member able to assist with language translation. During my very brief stay at the Jinagxi Hotel Nanchang I didn't have an opportunity to use all of the facilities; maybe next time? The facilities within the room were up to standard for that type of accommodation. The room rate was only marginally lower than Shanghai and a little higher than other provincial cities in China. I expected the rate to be a bit less however, it was not too excessive.

The dining facilities were quite good however, on the morning of departure, the hotel was late setting up for breakfast and this interfered with my leaving at 7:30 am for the railway station. It was not a big issue since I managed to get some breakfast before leaving.

I enjoyed staying at the Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang. Overall I was very happy and I plan to stay again on the way back to Shanghai at the beginning of March.

Q2. How do you rate your booking experience through TravelChinaGuide Booking Center? Would you like to offer your kind suggestions to better our service?

The on-line booking from home in Australia was made correctly by TravelChinaGuide however, the process was not one that I'm accustomed to. Let me explain. Normally, when making an on-line booking a traveller will receive an email confirmation advice, a reference number or a receipt number if payment has already been made. I received NOTHING from TravelChinaGuide and had to call by phone from Australia to confirm that a booking had actually been made. The person that I spoke to at TravelChinaGuide was very friendly and helpful in reassuring me that a booking had been made in my name and all I had to do was check in at the Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang on arrival. This caused two problems;

1. There are two Jianxi Hotels in Nanchang and they are very close together. The names are different in Chinese but for a traveller it is confusing since the names on the hotels are identical in Pinyin. I was in Nanchang last year and knew that there were two Jiangxi Hotels so I was at least a little prepared for the name problem however, to make it a bit more confusing, TravelChinaGuide gives the hotel address as:

No. 78 Bayi Dadao, Nanchang, China, 330006
http://hotel.travelchinaguide.com/nanchang-hotels/jiangxi-hotel-nanchang-200402240135210361.htm

... whereas almost everywhere else on the Internet the Jiangxi Hotel address is given as:
368 Bayi Avenue Nanchang 330006, Jiangxi China.

Again not a problem in Chinese but confusing to a traveller, especially when there are two Jianxi Hotels in Nanchang. Nevertheless, the Internet pictures of the Jiangxi Hotel are all the same; the 8-storey hotel on the corner.

Taxi drivers seem to use the hotel name rather than the address so it was a matter of explaining to the taxi driver that it was the 8-storey hotel on the corner and not the 5-storey hotel mid-block. In other places that I have stayed there is a jpg image with the hotel name and address in Chinese so a traveller can print it to show to the taxi driver. The image can also be stored and displayed on any jpg viewer; even a mobile phone.

2. I arrived at the hotel that I considered to be the 'real' Jiangxi Hotel and the first thing that I wanted was for the hotel to confirm that TravelChinaGuide had made a booking in my name; but I didn't seem to be able to do that too easily. I was able to positively 'connect' with the TravelChinaGuide booking that I made from Australia. The hotel staff were quite happy to check me in and give me a suitable room; but that is a different matter. I understand that speaking only in English may have been a problem when trying to make my concern very clear to reception. I checked in but the matter was still troubling me so later that night I went back to reception and a different person understood that I was trying to cross-check the reservation and was able to show me the TravelChinaGuide booking entry on 8th January in relation to my stay at the Jiangxi Hotel. That was the moment where I finally 'connected' with the original TravelChinaGuide booking.

Summary
As a seasoned traveller, the situation in Nanchang highlights some areas where I believe TravelChinaGuide should give attention:

a) Leaving home with a TravelChinaGuide reference number for the booking provides the reassurance that a traveller needs so that they do not have to worry about it while travelling and check-in will run smoothly. Having a reference number would become critical if there were a problem with the booking on arrival at the hotel. TravelChinaGuide must operate in a way that removes the worry from the traveller and not add to it.

b) The most common address for the Jiangxi Hotel is 368 Bayi Avenue Nanchang. Using this address would eliminate any confusion about the location.

c) Having a jpg image with the hotel name and address in Chinese generally assists travellers in China. In situations like Nanchang here there are two Jiangxi Hotels, having a more positive means of hotel identification is absolutely essential on arrival at the airport or station.

I trust that you have found my feedback useful.

I am in China quite frequently looking for good accommodation at a reasonable rate. I am only going to be away from China for 3-weeks before I return again.

Despite the problems encountered above on my first TCG booking, I am willing to use TravelChinaGuide again.

At this stage my tentative dates for return through Nanchang are:

Arrive: Saturday 2008/03/01
Leave: Wednesday 2008/03/05

These dates are fairly accurate however, they are subject to confirmation of my International departure from Shanghai.

Perhaps you can advise me of the Business Double Room availability at the Jiangxi Hotel for the dates that I have given; that is for 4-nights.

Respectfully

Excellent hotel. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the restaurant serves wonderful dinners (actually better and cheaper than the buffet dinner). Highly recommend.

TCG, thank you for your excellent service. I must say I am very satisfied with your service. All the staffs are very polite and helpful. I always get some useful information through you. As for Jiangxi hotel, I would like to say room is not spacious, the furniture and decoration are dated but clean. Reception could speak enough English. The breakfast is included, but only for one person (Second person are required to pay another CNY35.00). Overall, it? worth to the cost.

Im am welcome to give you my appraisal of the service of TCG and Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang.

In March 07 it was the first time I made a hotel booking via Travel China Guide (TCG) and I was fully satisfied with the service. The service was very prompt and friendly. This was the reason that on my second trip from Germany to China in Mai 07 I engaged TCG again. I can recommend TCG without concern and will engage them any time again.

On my first trip as well as on my second trip to Nanchang I had chosen the Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang. The hotel is located in the city center and shopping centers can be reached by foot. The room and bathroom are very clean and I have experienced an excellent service by a friendly staff. The breakfast buffet offers both, western and chinese food and is very diversified and comprehensive. And last not least, the room rates are very competitive. On my next trip I will choose the Jiangxi Hotel Nanchang again.

Best regards
