The hotel is excellently situated for exploring Xi'an. Whether arriving and leaving by air or train links to the airport and station are good. Our room was regularly cleaned and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel staff were helpful at all times.

Unfortunately this hotel caused me significant aggravation and wasted time. Two incidents need to be mentioned.
(1) When I booked the hotel with TCG I was told that a breakfast buffet would be available for an additional cost of 20 rmb. On the morning of Thursday September 6, I decided to buy their buffet. The young girls at the desk told me there was no food in the hotel. Very bizarre since the night before I was told the hours breakfast would be served. After showing these gals my notes and the 800 number for TCG, I was given a voucher to take to a small restaurant called Star Ferry adjoining the hotel. There I was presented with menu with a fixed choice. I was served an egg, something called ham, a small piece of bread and a cup of coffee. When I asked for more coffee, Star Ferry wanted 20 rmb more.
I came back to the hotel front desk to complain about the buffet. None of the gals seemed to understand English now. At about 9:15 am, I telephoned TCG and spoke with an Ivy. She understood my problem and said she would call the hotel.
(2) I then packed to leave, deciding I do NOT want to continue my Xian stay at Melody Hotel. Upon checkout, I was told that some items were missing from the room. The gal who told me accompanied me back to my room. It turned out that the items missing were toiletries that had been placed in a wicker basket.THERE WAS NO INDICATION AT ALL THAT THESE WERE NOT FREE. I then had to locate each of these items (such as a razor) and give them back. Fortunately, I had used none. After that I was allowed to check out for the promised price. I then asked what about the breakfast. To my amazement, I was handed a 20 rmb note (but not without my having to ask again).

The hotel feels very sorry for your unpleasant experience. Staff Miss Wang makes sure she will deliver your complaints about the breakfast to the manager of the restaurant to improve its service quality. She also told us that, to make up for your unhappy experience, the hotel did not charge the breakfast in the end.

Stayed at Melody for 5 days and 4 nights. Was a very pleasant stay.
Facilities were good and easy to get by. Staff (as are the residents of Xi'an) were very helpful, friendly and informative. Everyone was always ready to help and make sure you are clear on any problem. Rooms were clean, had a dated feel which was nice. Cozy and very warm. Food is easy to get as nearby there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Location is perfect. Just across the Drum Tower and a 5 minute walk to the Bell Tower. Aside from this, restaurants and shops were all there in this hotel's busy street. Therefore staying at Melody Hotel was very convenient and pleasant. Highly recommended!

A very convenient hotel in Xian for tourists. It is 3 mins’ walking distance to Bell Tower. The hotel is indeed central located but rather noisy, esp, in the rooms facing to the west avenue. The hotel staff speaks little English but friendly.

This Hotel is very central. I was on sixth floor (last floor) and the noise from traffic can be heard, until midnight and back again at 5:00 am. Also the TV in the room has over 50 channels, all Chinese. The computer in the room also in Chinese and at reception the English language is almost non existent. I will try elsewhere next time.
