Besides, non-smoking floors and floors only for women are specially designed. The hotel is clean and quiet. Swimming pool is still out of order. There are plenty of shops and restaurants opposite the hotel, within walking distance. Good for evening shopping and dinning out. Prices are reasonable. Xiamen Station (rail & bus) and World Trade Centre is left of the hotel about 2km away. Taxi ride from the hotel is about RMB 12. Another good shopping area is Zhongsan Lu (pedestrian mall and upper market stores). Taxi ride from the hotel is about RMB15 -18. You can find KFC, McD and plenty of local foods. Opposite the Zhongsan Lu is the ferry terminal to Gulangyu Island. A good place to spend a day. A local tour guide (They hang around the terminal) is about RMB30 per small group. It is good to have one to guide you through the island's mansions and walkways. Xiamen is an island with plenty of seafood.

During my stay the hotel, I found the location of hotel as good. We could access most places of interest in Xiamen with a short taxi ride. Staff was helpful and friendly. A lot of variety of food for breakfast. The room was spacious for rate paid, beds comfortable and clean. We however found that the air conditioning has been pre set and room becomes stuffy and warm middle of the night. We also found the carpets were not vacuumed frequently enough as we could see dust, hairs, etc especially at the different corners of the room.
Booking experience using arrangement from TCG was simple and service was good on questions raised.

1. Though this was our first experience in China, the overall assessment of this country, in particular, Xiamen is excellence, we were impressed by the infrastructures in term of road, transport, building, food and of course shopping. Whilst we stayed in this 4-star hotel, we had enjoyed the great hospitality treatment, the reception staff are friendly, well-trained and helpful, the service staff are well-mannered and proficent in the room service. The Minnan Hotel is well located at Hubin South Road, easily accessible by public transport, both taxi and bus, there are many shophouses nearby for convenience. The Hotel rooms are located from 22nd floor onwards, the window view is beautiful both in the day and night, the room is air-conditioned and fully equipped, with at least a 30-channel television programmes, telephone, alarm clock, a torch (for emergency use we guess), mini fridge, fresh fruits (apple, pear and banana), electric kettle, flask and tea set with complimentary chinese tea-leaf, it would be even better if complimentary bottles of mineral water are provided daily for those who do not appreciate of the chinese tea drinking. Full toilet facility with toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, bath gel, body lotion, comb, sewing kit, shoe shine, etc. The only comment we have is the furniture a bit old, but the overall feeling is warm, feel like at home. The breakfast is served at top of the building, 34th floor, at the revolving (from 8am and 8pm) restaurant where the ful veiw of the Xiamen city including the lake is captured just below your feet, especially at night when the whole city is lighted up with coloured neon lights. The buffet breakfast is excellence with varieties of traditional chinese foods to choose from and so is the dinner (not very expensive).
