It's an okay hotel in a great location. It's a short walk from the Forbidden City and the Wangfujing shopping area.
However, None of the taxi drivers knew the exact location of the Red Wall Hotel in Beijing, even though I gave them the address written in Chinese. They would all stop a few blocks away on N Riverside St. So, a map showing the hotel in its local area is essential.

The comments I've read about this hotel is pretty on point. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel was probably grand in its day. The hallway rugs are old and soiled and the wallpaper is peeling in some areas. The room was clean and bathroom updated. The location is in walking distance of attractions. Buses come right by the hotel. I had no problem getting cabs. We enjoyed the reasonable priced foot massages at the end of our day. The hotel had restaurant, bar, massages, tour desk, currency exchange. We had little difficulty communicating with the staff. There was an odor in the area. We smelled the odor in different areas of Beijing. If you want a low budget hotel near attractions and public transportation you might want to give this hotel a try.

In regards to my one night stay in the Red Wall Hotel, March, 2008: the hotel was very good for the price. It was comfortable, clean, and the service was good. One thing, I could not find the sauna, although it was advertised. But, overall, I was very satisfied.

We chose the REDWALL Hotel because it is convenient to the Forbidden City, Beipark and Tian; anmen square. we did not expect a great hotel . The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and gave good service. The food was not so good. The room we had was very cold and had no heating due to repairs. They did change us to another room when we complained but unfortunately it was on ground floor and was quite noisy. we would stay there again.
Your service was fine and we had a great holiday in China.
