Located in the former French Concession of Shanghai, the Ruijin Hotel is a garden hotel offering a peaceful environment and picturesque surroundings. The four buildings which house the guestrooms and various banquet and meeting halls were all designed in traditional British style, and most of them were built in the 1920s or 30s. The hotel's park like environment includes about 100 acres of lush lawns, ponds, and small wooden bridges in a Japanese-style garden. Also, gazebos, pavilions, and a spectacular marble fountain can be found here. September 2006. We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 nights at the Rui Jin Guest House and our room was comfortable and very roomy - even had an extra sitting area overlooking the gardens. There was a great choice of foods for breakfast - choice of hot or cold and either western or chinese. The location is excellent - surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars etc and close to Metro for easy access to other areas in Shanghai. I have just returned to Ireland from Shanghai. I stayed at this hotel for 8 days. I enjoyed the staff, met the director of operations and thought the breakfst buffet was adequate. However I am confused by other comments that buffet service is slow! How is a buffet slow. My family and I spent several days at the Rui Jin Guest Hotel in June. We were really impressed with the service and especially enjoyed the many fine eating establishments on the hotel grounds.
