General

Located at the Kunming's busy commercial, shopping and entertainment center, Sakura Hotel is next to the famous 'Shangyi Street Flower Market' and Zhenqing Cultural Square. Opened in 1993 and renovated in 2001, the hotel offers a variety of rooms ranging from Standard Room, Superior Standard Room, Executive Room, Executive Apartment and Presidential Suites. The hotel's 235 rooms feature mini-bar, air-conditioner, satellite television and safe box, hair dryer as well as wide-band Internet access. And an executive lounge is set up on the executive floor. The Conference Hall and Banquet Hall are equipped with audio and visual facilities, projectors, white board, podium and wireless microphone as well as stationary and other assistance tools.

I stayed there for 5D 4N. Since I'm a Muslim, i would like to suggest that the hotel management to make it more Islamic friendly. Maybe one simple thing to be added is the direction of Qiblat (praying direction for Muslims) in the rooms.

I have been staying in Camellia hotel for quite sometime in the past trips. The service there seemed to be getting less attractive for me. So I was looking for a change. I picked New Era and this hotel to try out.

Sakura is fine for the price. Although there are little matters needed improvement. For example, there was no hotel guidebook in the room. Difficult to believe that the hotel does not have it, so the supervision was not enough is what I believe. Usual bathtub clogging was there too.

Had breakfast in there restaurant. The food was fine but the croissant was probably deep fried in stale butterfat. It smelled and it was on both days of my having breakfast there. I think this is a small matter and need a better QC in production only.

The hotel did not have any facility of changing money either.
Yet I think this hotel is fine for the price. Surely better than Camellia at its present days.

This hotel is completely over priced. The staff is friendly and helpful with very good English skills. This hotel has the best western breakfast on offer. The tour booking service is not good at all. They are not up to date on the correct location of bus stations within Kunming, and as a consequence i was sent to the wrong bus station which cost me a small fortune of taxi fares. To add to this I had booked and paid for a flight from Lijiang to Shenzen which I found out upon arrival at Lijiang airport was cancelled. The hotel booking service made no attempt to contact me to inform me that my flight had been cancelled.

Sakura hotel is at very good location. Room was ok & breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful.

I have booked through TCG for the first time & hence was not very sure about the arrangements. But I was wrong, all the arrangements were just perfect.
