The hotel is just OK. I booked it as I had an early morning flight from Hongqiao Airport the next morning. However, a new airport terminal has been built - called Terminal 2 - that is serviced by the Metro. Most of the flights now leave from Terminal 2. It is a 20 min taxi ride from Terminal 2, to Terminal 1 where the Argyle Hotel is located. The taxi drivers at Terminal 2 are not happy to take you to Terminal 1.
I would only stay at the Argyle again, if I my flight left from Terminal 1.

We had a 1-night layover here on the way to Yangshuo. The hotel is located very conveniently to the old terminal at Hongqiao. I wish we had known about the free shuttle bus between the 2 terminals. Our taxi driver was not too pleased with the short trip, and I was really annoyed by his attitude! The hotel itself was OK. The bed was too firm, but for one night only, it was OK. The included breakfast was sufficient.

Plenty of Facilities are at the hotel but you had better if they will be available for use, I found a number of things closed or unmanned even during listed operational hours - this may have to do with the fact that I traveled in winter off - peak period, but still it was frustrating. As and non Chinese speaking traveler it was even more so given that next to no English was spoken by the staff and clear communication was very difficult.
I arrived in the evening around 8pm and could not get a decent dinner, and left at 6:45am to catch my flight with after getting up for breakfast at 6:00am and by the time I left they were still only putting the breakfast out, the guide in the room stated breakfast would be available from 5:30...
Having experienced this and know what to expect I would still do it again for the sake of making an early flight on time!!!
Booking experience was easy to use and convenient, I will use TCG again!!!

Regarding the Argyle hotel, it was a good experience for me, since I was needed to made some visits outside Shanghai and the localization of the hotel just in front of the domestic airport avoid me to face the crazy traffic of the city.
On the other hand, the hotel offers everything we can expected from a hotel of this category, the restaurant is ok and the staff is very kind.
