I DEFINITELY enjoyed myself whilst staying at Shanshui Trends Hotel in Chengdu! I thought the room was spacious and well - appointed and allowed me to spread out! It had The Internet connected (which I need to have access to) and the bed I slept in was large and comfortable and allowed me to have a good night's sleep on each of the four nights I stayed there.
The Reception Staff were always friendly and attentive but there was always a problem with the language barrier between us. This extended to arrangements I needed to make with them and also trying to make myself understood at the attached restaurant. I was unable to make ANY impression at all with my almost total lack of Chinese. On each and EVERY occasion I seemed to be lucky enough to have someone come to my aid that was bilingual in English and Chinese and sort out any problems or issues that I had. Despite this, the staff was good - natured about it all and patient as I think I was with them. The food at the restaurant was good: both for breakfast and dinner (the only two meals I chose to eat there) and I was satisfied on each occasion after a dreadful misunderstanding on the first night (without the aid of an interpreter).
The hotel was on a main thoroughfare and so for a taxi driver it was not difficult to get me to the hotel from the airport or vice versa. I would certainly consider staying at Shanshui Trends Hotel in Chengdu again because I know what to expect and I think that I got value for money.

Very unhelpful staff. They don't speak one word of English and don't try to help and understand you at all. Worst thing was that they didn't let me pay with my credit card when they offer this service.
