Shaoxing hotel, located in the city centre, was opened in 1958. The hotel has a favorable location and convenient transportation for it is adjacent to the city square and close to the famous Wolong Hill. Shaoxing Hotel is designed in accordance with the dwellings in south of Yangtze River, and you will see white wall and black tiles, as well as bridges on flowing streams. The hotel owns 268 rooms which are all equipped with phones, central air conditioners, independent bathrooms and broadband internet access. In addition, it has eight conference halls with different functions, and international conference center equipped with first-class 5-language simultaneous interpretation facilities. There are also 34 restaurants accommodating 700 people at a time, where you can enjoy the authentic local specialties.

The green surrounding, the Chinese garden-architecture, the lake, the whole outset is admirable and of extremely high quality. Understandably this hotel is very popular with upper-class Chinese and thus apparently heavily booked during weekends for weddings, birthdays and other occasions. And Chinese festivities are noisy. Thus my recommendation: If you really want to enjoy the quality and inherent quietness of this outstanding, magnificent hotel and its surroundings: Avoid weekends if you can or check at least if such festivities are on.
By the way: Shaoxing is well worth seeing. Though somewhat too presumptuous touristy. Pointed to Chinese visitors.
Evidently off the beaten track for western tourists. So: Unless you speak and read Chinese find yourself an English-speaking guide - hard to find though - since no sights and cultural musts provide any translations or explanations in English.
