Dear Ms Qian, The booking experience with TCG went smoothly and the service was commendable. However, the stay at Star City Hotel in Guangzhou was not satisfactory. Firstly, many of the staff members need to learn basic English to converse with and understand the needs of their guests. There seemed to be some confusion every time we pass by the lobby. Secondly, service was generally lacking. They don't give you breakfast coupons unless you ask for them, and one of them even said you had to pick up the coupons everyday from the front desk. Why? Why not give the guests their coupons at the start so we wouldn't have to waste time asking from them at the reception? The room was ok, but the housekeeping should have made sure everything was in working order before we moved in. The phone wasn't working and it took them ages to fix it. Since we were there for the Canton Trade Fair, the staff should've anticipated our needs and informed us of the shuttle service and the time of departure. When I asked one of their people if there was a bus driving us from the fair back to the hotel, she said 'No' when in fact, we found out later, she was wrong. So we ended up struggling to find a ride home, a frustrating task when everyone from the fair wanted to get a taxi or a bus at the end of the day. Lastly, the hotel is not as near to the MTR as they had led us to believe, based on the description of hotel location. It's quite a walk from the station. Would we return to the hotel again? I booked this hotel through TCG. The hotel is located near by the Pazhou complex (only 3 minutes by taxi). The transportation is extremely convenient. I've heard that the hotel is just opened this year. The facilities and decoration in the hotel looks modern and nice. Room is clean and bright. But in my opinion, hotel staffs should be well-trained. They could not understand my exact request, so it wastes long time to check in and check out. All in all, I think the hotel is very suitable for the business men who are going to visit Pazhou exhibition center.
