The hotel that I stayed at with my fiance was the Gentlemen's Hotel of Suzhou and the review I can provide you is: 1) Unfortunately, in spite of booking a suite at this hotel I was far from impressed. The hotel service was not helpful or responsive - and that was with me speaking Chinese, I couldn't imagine how difficult it would be for someone to stay there only speaking English. The hotel also didn't properly accept my reservation - they charged more than TCG told me they would AND they said that the (higher) price I was paying didn't include the breakfasts I had requested... I ended up paying double on breakfast costs and to top it off the breakfast was horrid. It had a typical Chinese spread, however it wasn't tasty and it definitely put off the western appitite. When I return to Suzhou, I will NOT stay at this hotel and others would hear that advice as well. 2) TCG has always been helpful, I was disappointed that my reservation was wrong but I am sure that was the hotel. I will use TCG again in the future. Modern facilities and clean/comfortable room. Lovely restaurant and available business centre that made communication home by email easy. The hotel was a located well away from the busy and noisier part of Suzhou, but access to the main sites of Suzhou were easy by registered taxi for about RMB10 a trip.
