I am a teacher living in Nanjing and I went to Suzhou with my parents for the eclipse. The eclipse was a disaster as we were all drenched looking at an overcast sky. The best thing about the stay was the hotel. This hotel was incredibly cheap! It is located in a great spot just near the station and several of Suzhou's attractions. The rooms were clean and tidy. The bathroom was better than I would have expected in a budget hotel.
The staff is what makes this hotel special. There was nothing they wouldn't do if they could. They tried so very hard to help us during our stay; they wrote everything in Chinese characters for us to give the taxi drivers, they even lent us one of the staff member's umbrella when we wanted to walk up to the Silk Museum. There was one staff member fluent in English but all the staff tried to help when she was unavailable and they did an excellent job!
The staff in the restaurant were equally as helpful and the food (we ate lunch there) was great!
I would stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone - it's not 5 star but the quality of staff definitely is.

We will strongly reccomend this hotel at a very economic price. The room was excellent, very elegant and quite beautiful with all facilities in top range. The service at the desk was very good. The location very near the Silk Museum, the Great Pagoda, the modern City Museum, the Humble Administrators Garden and the Railway Station could not be better. Even the boat trip on the charming Canals was in walking distance.

My girlfriend and I visited Suzhou recently. And this time we choose Greentree Inn Kaixuanmen Hotel. Front desk staffs are very friendly and efficient. Only 5 minutes later, we finished check-in. There is only one elevator in the hotel and it's difficult to find it by yourself. The room we booked is One standard room. I have to say the room is really small. So later we change into one Business King-size bed, which is more spacious.

Generally speaking, we enjoy this trip and may come back again!
