The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel is founded in 1995. Situated against the backdrop of the picturesque Mingsha Sand Dunes. The hotel captures the spirit of the Tang Dynasty with its unique architectural design - the large rooftops and long corridors of the Han and Tang dynasties; the typical enclosed courtyard style design and mud walls of the northwestern part of China; and the replica of the late Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties furniture. All these work together to recapture the flavour of a bygone era with their simplicity and use of natural building materials.

First of all, your company is very professional, friendly and helpful and the arrangements went very smoothly and with no problems. We will be happy to use you again if we visit China.
The Silk Road Dunhuang is excellent. We were greeted very well, even though we arrived at 5am! and given a room with a lovely view of the sand dunes, as we had requested.
All the staff could not have been more helpful, the food was good (there was a restaurant with English translation of the menu) the rooms were lovely and spotlessly clean and all the facilities were fine. We were even given a toy camel as a souvenir of our stay there!
I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Although a little out of town, that is not a problem as taxis are very cheap, and the location near to the sand dunes more than makes up for it being out of town.
The only thing I would suggest that would make it even better is if there were a shady area in the garden with chairs and umbrellas to sit and relax and have a drink. It gets very hot there, and this would make for a very pleasant hour or two in the afternoon. Otherwise - a super hotel and excellent few days.
Best wishes,
Chris Mosley
As for location, well, although not in the city center, the hotel is not located in some desolate or remote place; since Dunhuang is not a very big city, it is just near to the Echoing-Sand Dune and the Crescent Lake, with convenient transportation to the city center, just 10 minutes drive. In all, this hotel is the ideal accommodation in Dunhuang. To me, it is the most impressive hotel on my China Tour. All of us love it very much. Highly recommended!!!!
