Yide Hotel, Pingyao, a Chinese typical courtyard-style hotel, was the former residence of a wealthy merchant. It was firstly built in 1736 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The hotel is composed of six small yards, respectively, upper yard, lower yard, study room, carriage and horse yard, ancestral temple and a garden.The well-preserved hotel is located in a quite laneway and it is accessible within a few minutes walk off the main street. The original Chinese courtyard, the delicate engravings and paintings, the refined ancient furniture, the traditional Kang and the dense cultural atmosphere will bring you into a quite and pleasant world.

We were very happy with the Yide hotel. Its location was excellent for exploring the centre of Pingyao and it was easy to find. The hotel was very charming, set out in the style of the old Courtyard houses. The hotel was set a little back from the main road and so it was very peaceful, away from the hustle of the main streets. The rooms were very clean, large and well decorated in the local style. The food was very good, both at breakfast and for an evening meal.
The service from all of the staff was outstanding and we felt that this set this hotel apart from many other hotels that we have stayed in. The staff were very helpful from the moment of our arrival. We felt that they could not do enough for us and they were all very helpful telling us details of the sights in Pingyao and interested to know what we had done during the day. All of the staff spoke very good English. The hotel also arranged a car back to Taiyuan airport, at a charge cheaper than the standard taxi fare, and the hotel staff gave us water for the journey back to the airport!
We found that the booking experience with TCG to be very convenient and efficient and we experienced no problems when checking into the hotel.
