General
Yuquan Simpson Hotel, a joint venture between Hong Kong and Shan Dong, is a four-star hotel. Located on the middle of Luoyuan Street, the most central business district in Jinan city, the hotel has been awarded "The Excellent Performance Hotel with Foreign Investment of Nation". The hotel boasts variety of guest rooms, each of which is equipped with central air-conditioning, domestic and international direct dialing, mini bar and so on. Besides, Chinese and Western restaurants, Banquet Halls as well as conference rooms in different size are on offer in the hotel. Entertainment center provides all kinds of exercise items. In addition, guests can take the airport shuttle buses at the gate of the hotel in convenience.

The Simpson Hotel, is a budget Hotel and was just right for my purpose, as I just slept there by night and checked out early morning. The hotel is conveniently located as I could reach it directly by bus. The staff is friendly and helpful. The overall experience was quite satisfactory.

My husband and I have stayed here twice and have been very satisfied both times. It is clean, friendly, and in a great location. There is English speaking staff, as well as an airport shuttle every hour from the hotel.

The hotel is in a very convienent location. As a foreigner living in China, we found many Western grocery stores nearby. As for the hotel itself, we thought it was a great price for the value. Clean, spacious rooms. Friendly staff. And as someone already stated, theres an airport shuttle outside.

Regarding the hotel accommodations, the room type I reserved is the room type I received so in that sense, the booking was successful. What was not clear from the booking was not knowing what a 4 star hotel would be like. It turns out there is a very large difference between a 4 star hotel and a 5 star hotel in China. Perhaps setting that specific expectation might be helpful to some traveler in making a more educated decision - just knowing what they would be giving up by saving $30-$50 per day. Personally, I would have paid the difference to stay next door at the Sofitel which is a 5 star hotel. Just letting the traveler know what a given hotel in China would compare to in their respective countries would be of immense help. So why not add a 'compare to' feature on your site, and invite visitors to provide feedback.
Another point would be, it appears the majority of hotels are not on the internet, and are quite good as well. As a matter of fact quite a bit better than internet published 4 star hotels, at the same or lower cost. Providing travelers with other local options might be a useful service as well.
Regarding the hotel itself, Yuquan Simpson Jinan, it is old and in need of some renovation. The room was spacious, but in terms of comfort not any better than a low cost motel in the US. That was disappointing.

Regards to the Yuquan Simpson Hotel, Jinan I stayed: Not up to 4 stars rating. The carpet in the room needs to be cleaned or preferably change. Generally not very clean.. However the staffs are very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast is the best I have encountered for a 4 star hotel. The location is very good.
