Zhong Fa Yuan Hotel, Xining is situated in the commercial and traffic center of Xining. The hotel provides comfortable, pleasant and convenient room services for guests from home and broad. On the hotel’s 11th floor is a multi-function hall which can accommodate 300 people and two meeting rooms which can accommodate 50 people each. Apart from advanced facilities and professional meeting services, the Zhong Fa Yuan Restaurant on the 3rd and 4th floors can accommodate 600 people dining at the same time. The hotel also has luxurious banquet hall and VIP hallsand suites, all of which have rest areas. Careful reception and sincere service will satisfy every guest.

It is difficult to rate a hotel in quite remote Xining without any prior experience. In other parts of China, the price of the hotel would lead me to believe a quite comfortable stay was in store.

I'd forgotten I'd booked a superior suite, which added a quite small room with a television adding about ten square meters to the large bedroom and average bathroom. The decor of the room looked quite old, but the bed was comfortable and soundproofing was ok.

Quite bizarre is that the in-room internet is provided by ADSL rather than cable, so the technical staff had to set up a connection on my laptop. The ADSL router was plugged into the wall near the television, so did not turn on until I flicked on the "TV" switch on the unit attached to the bed...not very intuitive.

The breakfast was ok, and the service was functional but not friendly.

I extended my stay by 4 hours, and was charged an extra half day's rate, in keeping with the information provided by the hotel in the room's documents.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel. It was a good place to rest after a hectic day's touring (14 hours worth if you join a chinese tour to Qinghai lake). But I felt a bit ripped off by the price (I paid about 350 yuan/night for equivalent in Guiyang, and 450 yuan/night for a much better place in nearby Lanzhou), but this may just be part of the parcel of staying in Qinghai.

With the walking distance to the railway station, the transportation nearby is very convenient. The room is ok. Service is good. I think this is one of best hotels in Xining. Tips: You'd better to reserve this hotel through TCG booking center, they could get more discount price for you.
