I am American born Chinese. My Chinese aunts wear jade bangles and they can't be removed unless the hand is soaped and the bangle is "wedged" off the hand, hence they never take it off. I too bought a jade bangle from a reputable seller in Toronto. I am nervous for my Chinese aunts to see it. I believe they will scrutinze the bangle, and with a smile say something like, "Very pretty, but not so good". I have other American born Asian friends, who tell me their Asian relatives do the same thing. Is this some kind of cultural thing? Or are they just being petty? Of course the jade I can afford is not Imperial $3,000 dollar pieces, but I believe what I purchased is very nice.

I've just bought a [green] jade carved into an image of "double peach" pendant. I'm aware that the "peach" is very symbolic in Chinese culture, especially in your '60th year'. It is my 60th year [actually August '08 I became 60 years into Life'...looking forward to the beginning of the next part of my life]...so, is the "double Peach"...double better??? Any additional info would be appreciated, I've just begun writing a book, whose main title is "Peach".

Peach originated from China. Since the ancient times, peach has been loved by literators as it symbolizes longevity and auspicious in Chinese culture. People do think peach is the fruit of celestial beings. Have you seen some Chinese fairy stories? Gods like eating peaches.
In China, peach has the good names like celestial peach or longevity peach. When we celebrate birthdays for our elders, we unusually cater a banquet. Sometimes, the guests would like to send the steamed peach-shaped buns as a gift to the birthday old man. Eating it can make you have a long life
Peach flower symbolize pretty woman who are envied by many people. Ancient people deemed beautiful women lure men and hold up their careers. Beauty sometimes brings misfortunes. On the other hand, if we say someone has the luck of peach flower, it proves that he is very popular with girls.
Additionally, people use peach wood to make talismans, such as peach-wood knife and peach-wood puppet.
