A piece of good news about Beijing Olympics is that Beijing Subway will operate on a twenty four hour basis on August 8th and 24th , the days of the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies .Beijing Subway also says that hours during the Olympics will be extended in accordance with the passenger transportation needs.

It is predicted that during the opening and closing ceremonies, great pressure on the subway system will be caused by a flow of nearly 100,000 people coming to and from the National Stadium, 'Bird's Nest'. So a 24-hour subway service  will surely ease the burden. Meanwhile, the Metro Line 10 and the Olympic Branch Line will be operative from August, with a departure interval of only three minutes.

In particular, there will be a 'green channel' set at each subway station, for the day's Olympic ticket holders, volunteers and Olympic staff holding an appropriate employment card. There will be no subway fares for people in these categories.
