Ministry of Railways cuts ticket presale period to five days
Olympic ticket holders to enjoy priority

China Ministry of Railways (CMR) has announced that the presale period of all train tickets excepting students' return ticket will be cut from ten days to five days between July 20 and September 20 (the departure date printed on the ticket). During the Beijing Olympics, all Olympic ticket holders and people with certificates relative to the Olympics will enjoy a priority when buying train tickets.
Yesterday's news from Beijing railway stations was that the presale period of train tickets including trains with initial 'D' and 'Z' was adjusted to five days. Exceptions are the students' return tickets as well as the Beijing-Hong Kong Kowloon tickets whose presale period is 20 days, the presale period for Beijing train tickets will be five days from July 20 to September 20, according to the CMR.
Meanwhile, Xian Railway Station and all ticket agencies will adjust the presale period to five days from July 16. Reports from Xian say that from July 5, train tickets from Xian to Korla, Lanzhou, Urumqi, Xining and Yinchuan have been in great demand. It is predicted that the demand for tickets to Beijing and some of the co-host cities of 29th Olympiad - Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Tianjin and Qinhuangdao will greatly increase during August.
