The Winter Nadam Fair of Hulun Buir will be open on December 18 in Hulun Buir League in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The opening ceremony will be held in the Duanqiao Central Island at the border zone of Hailar District and Bayan Tohoi Town of the Ewenki Autonomous Banner in Hulun Buir.

So far, Ewenki Autonomous Banner has successfully held seven winter Nadam fairs. This year, the fair will give more prominence to folk customs and more colorful amusement activities. The opening ceremony will be divided into three chapters to display the past, present and the future of the folks’ lives, including sacrificial rites, recurrence of their nomadic life, singing and dancing and other winter amusement activities.

During the event, activities with distinctive Mongolian ethnic features such as Mongolian wrestling, archery, horse racing and ball sports will be staged, and visitors can also participate in the activities.

The Tourism Bureau of Ewenki Banner is gearing up the preparation work for the festival. More than 20 yurts are being put up in four folk areas. Visitors will be able to savor the distinctive flavor of the ethnic Mongolian food.
