Beijing Ancient ObservatoryTake the public bus No. 300, 361, 718, 731 or T8 and get off at China Science & Technology Museum. It is the first technology museum in China including the display areas of electromagnetism, photics, acoustics, nucleus technic, etc. The exhibits inside pay more attention to science, knowledge and interest, and the museum encourages visitors to take part in the activities and reveal the mysteries of the science. The admission fee is CNY30.00 per adult. At present, 3 exhibition halls are opened for public. A hall is the main display hall, B is the hall for scientific movies and C is Children Paradise. There is a traditional technology exhibition hall to reflect the Chinese bright civilized achievements of ancient China in A exhibition hall. It introduces world famous four big inventions and astronomy, ceramics, building, bronze, smelting and casting, spinning and weaving, embroidery, Chinese medicine, machinery, handicraft. Here has the rocket of ancient times, the warship, the waterwheel, the compass, the audience may feel the technical civilization magnificent achievement from the display.
After finishing your visit, take bus No. 367, T8wai at China Science & Technology Museum station and get off at the west of Jimenqiao (Jimen Bridge), then change the bus No. 601 and get off at the Beijing Zoo station, or you may take 104 at China Science & Technology Museum station to the Zoo directly, you can visit the Zoo if you are interested in (the admission fee is CNY20.00 per person including the panda house). Visit Beijing Planetarium and the Ancient Observatory in the afternoon. Beijing Planetarium is the first large-scaled professional planetarium in China, which contains old and new display halls and it is the best place to know astronomic knowledge and astronomic observation. For your information, Beijing Planetarium will be closed on every Monday and Tuesday, please pay attention to this. Then take bus No. 111 at the Beijing Zoo station and get off at inside of Chongwen Men stop, connect bus No. 25 or 39 and get off at east of Beijing Station to visit the Ancient Observatory, which is the component part of Beijing Planetarium and was first built in 1442. Now it records observation data for about 500 years.
Calcite in China Geological Museum, BeijingOn the second day, you may take No. 323, 368 or 374 and get off at west gate of Yuyuantan to visit the CCTV Tower. The admission fee is CNY50 per person if you want to ascend the tower. The Pacific Underwater World locates under the CCTV Tower and you may also visit it. The admission fee is CNY75.00 per person. Once finished your visit to these two sites, you may take bus No. 846 at west of Hangtianqiao (Hangtian Bridge) and get off at the west of XiSi Lu to visit China Geological Museum. It is one of the earliest museums in China and contains more than 200,000 geological samples covering every geological area. This museum is opened from 09:30 to 16:30 and will be closed on every Monday.
