Harbin Extension Tour


Jinshangjing History Museum, Harbin

Following an enjoyable and relaxing time in Harbin , there is a further scope for adventure in the vicinity. On the first day, you can seek out the profound and brilliant culture of Acheng, located about 23 kilometers southeast of Harbin. Convenient road and railway networks make it easy to travel to and from Acheng, and the trip takes about half an hour by  soft seat train. Alternatively, there are buses from Nangang Coach Station, opposite to the Railway Station. The telephone numbers for enquiries are 0451-86214436 and 0451-53634863. Should you perfer, you can take the bus to Mudanjiang and get off at Yuquan Town. However, if you decide to drive to the sightseeing spots on your own, do remember to drive along the State Highway 301. Upon your arrival, take the sightseeing bus to the ruins of Shangjing Huining. During the Jin Dynasty this was one of China's four noted ancient capitals. This city was 11 kilometers in circumference and and east-west divide split it into two sectors. The southern part  served as the imperial city while in the south there were living quarters. It is a comparatively well-preserved capital site from the Jin Dynasty period, enabling you to become familiarized with its long history and culture. At present, the attractions here are the Jin Dynasty City Ruins and eight exhibition halls. The Jinshangjing History Museum is the only one in China to house Jin Dynasty antiquities. The phone number of this site is 0451-53773079. The admission fee for the museum is CNY20, and an additional CNY15 is charged for admission to the Jintaizu Mausoleum Park.

In the afternoon, journey to Jinyuan Rufeng in Songfeng Mountain area, some 60 kilometers east of Acheng - 90 minutes' drive from Acheng. This is the earliest Taoism Shrine in northeastern China. The age-old trees recall the historical vicissitudes of the place; while, the incredible natural sorroundings provide a crowning touch to your visit. The admission fee is CNY40. Return to Acheng once you have completed your tour of the attractions.


Songfeng Mountain area, Harbin

On the next day, we suggest you head for Yuquanshan Game Land, which is the largest closed game land in Asia occupying an area of 3,000 hectares. Over 80% of the land is covered by vegetation. More than 60 varieties of trees and over 40 kinds of birds are found here as well as red and soptted deer. You can buy some deer products there. In spring, the game land is an ocean of flowers scented flowers in full bloom.  In summer, the park is cloaked in the lush green grass until autumn when the hillside becomes colorful. Finally, in winter, deep snow transforms everything totally white and pure. You are bound to find incomparable pleasure here all year round. The reserve can be reached by a 40 minute bus ride from Acheng. The entrance fee is CNY10.
