Descriptions:
Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral - The Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral is said to be the most representative places of historical interest. It is actually the front wall of the St. Paul's Cathedral which was finished in 1637. This cathedral has combined the styles of eastern architecture and of the European Renaissance. In 1835, the cathedral was burnt down in the fire, with only the 68 steps and the granite front wall. The construction cost of the wall was 1,500-kilogram (3,307 pounds or 52,911 ounces) silver. Thus it was reputed through Southeast Asia at that time.

Penha Hill - At an elevation of 62.7 meters (208 feet), the Penha Hill lies in the southwestern part of Macau Peninsula. To the west, it is next to the inner harbor; to the east it looks over the Guia Hill; in the northeast, it neighbors with the South Bay; and to the south it adjoins the Ma Ge Hill. The famous A-ma Temple is just located at the foot of the hill. On the top of the hill stands the Hall of Virgin Mary built in 1622 and the Hall of Bishop built in 1935.

Since its our first time to do it, we don't have any ideas about it and we are looking for a cheaper tour package for 6days and 5nights. Hope you could help us get started on which to choose.

Macau is only a small place. You could visit most of the interesting places in about a day. There is really nothing special about the Macau Tower, it's just a free standing structure (unless you are interested to bungee jump). If you want to go up, I think the cost is about HK $ 70. You can get a cheaper price though when you purchase in the ferry terminal (when you're coming from Hong Kong) from the rent a car stalls (comes down to HK $ 50).

What I suggest you do is to visit Macau Churches. There's a specific brochure in the airport or the Visitor Center in the Ferry Terminal which details the churches you can visit. If you're Catholic, try to hear mass that is celebrated in Portuguese. Compare/Contrast Macau Churches Architecture which are of Portuguese influence with ours which is Spanish.

Don't forget to go to Rua de Sao Paulo, Macau's most famous landmark and the nearby Museum where almost all the guards are Filipinos. By the way, there are a lot of Filipinos in Macau, don't hesitate to ask for help, ang babait nila, sometimes mag-vovolunteer na samahan kang mag-tour.

Ask them about a nearby Chinese City that's supposed to be a cheap shopping haven (like Shenzen). I forgot the name of the City, its only a bus ride away from Macau. You need to get a Visa though, which you could apply/process/finish in a matter of hours (daw).

There's always the Casinos. Sands and Wynn are the new ones.

Hope that helps.

Hi all,
My wife and i will be flying in and out of Macau. We mainly want to visit H.K. but would the hotels be cheaper to stay at in Macau and travell to H.K. daily. Is H.K. far from Macau, and how much does it cost to get there. Also as we have an early morning flight from Macau would it be a must to stay there on the night before departure.
Really hope some one can help us with this
