Accomodation in Macau - We stayed at Ko Wah. Its on Rua da Felicidade which is just a street away from Senado Square. Great location, clean rooms. There are two other budget options on either side of Ko Wah, Villa Universal and San Va. San Va is quite a dump though. We paid 330 MOP for a double. It was spacious, quiet and there was hot water, good value. They have rooms of different sizes (and thus cost) so do look around.

Taxies in Macau are inexpensive. A trip from Macau old town to Coloane, which is almost as long a journey as you can take cost about 60 MOP. Unfortunately, none of the taxi drivers is familier with the English names of the places in Macau. My wife is Cantonese and even then it was difficult. The taxi drivers don't seem to know the Chinese names printed on the map given by the tourist office either. We found out that the locals have their own names for places that could be far from the official Chinese/English names. Pickup whatever leaflets about the places you want to go to you can find. Point a clear picture of the place to the driver. We found that to be the best way to communicate where we want to go to them.
