Hani Minority people

Jianshui City, located in the southern part of Yunnan Province, on the north shore of  the Red River's middle reach, is a beautiful land which has been known as the " land of grain and sugar cane". The following short trip starts from this small fertile land.

If you have a private car, it is recommended that you drive along the Express Way from Jianshui to Jijie Town, then take the No. 326 National Way from Jijie Town to Mengzi County, then continue to drive along the No. 326 National Way to Hekou Town on the second day.

For the self-arranged tour, it is recommended that you take the coach to Mengzi County to visit South Lake.  South Lake, located in the southern part of Wenlan Town, Mengzi County, Honghe Hani and Yi Minority Autonomous Prefecture, is formed by the accumulation of natural rain water. It was called Batardeau pond in the Ming Dynasty, and there were three mud hills named Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou Island respectively. It became the meeting place for intellectuals and poets with the passage of time. South Lake formed its present appearance after twists and turns with the changes of history.  There is also a monument to the famous patriotic poet, Wen Yiduo, erected on the island in the lake's center. After your visit to South Lake, transfer to Yuanshi Cave, which also called Kwan-yin Cave, located in Lingjiu Village, Mingjiu County, 38 kilometers from Mengzi County. With tall, straight ancient pine trees, fruit trees, flowers and plants and dancing butterflies, the scenery there is very natural and attractive. There are about 123 steps from the foot of the cave to the entrance with a vertical height of 30 meters or so, and you will appreciate the splendid karst scenery there after you ascend those steps. The vivid animal-like karsts will appear before your eyes after you enter the cave 10 meters or so.  Some resemble an elephant, some a galloping horse, some even like a unicorn with ferocious eyes, etc.  They are really incomparable.  They are the perfect combination of the power of nature and the wisdom of the ancient people. Transfer back to Jianshui city after a short stay. The Lin'an Hotel in Jianshui is recommended, located in the No. 1 Beizheng Road, Jianshui County (00-86-08737651888).  It is a fine and reliable two-star hotel in Jianshui County.

Daweishan Nature Preserve

On the second day, take the regular bus to Daweishan Nature Preserve Area. Occupying 15 square kilometers of Pingbian County, this Nature Preserve is made up of 19 scenic sites. With its virgin forests, rare and precious endangered animals and plants, this preserve area belongs to the provincial level nature preserve area.  It received the authorization from the Yun'nan Government in August, 1993. Take advantage of learning something about the rare and precious endangered animals and plants and enjoy the natural beauty in Daweishan Nature Preserve Area. Transfer to Hekou in the afternoon to see Vietnam Street, which located on the north bank of the Red River, in Hekou Town. Various kinds of local products fromVietnam are shown in simple tents. Transfer back to Jianshui, or you can go across the river to Vietnam if you like.
