Descriptions:
General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum - The museum was built for commemorating General Joseph W. Stilwell. The main building is the former residence of General W. Stilwell, who was born in Palatka, Florida, the United States of America. During the World War Two, he, as a general of American land army, fought against the Japanese attack with Chinese Kuomintang army.
Chongqing Zoo - Chongqing Zoo is located in the western suburb of Chongqing City. It was first built in 1953. The landscape of the zoo is very beautiful. In the zoo, you can see more than 600 kinds of animals. Some of them are endangered animals, such as giant pandas, little pandas and South China tigers. In the recent years, the zoo increased some entertainment facilities. Some of them are suitable for children, such as the little electricity-driven train and merry-go-round; and the others are intended for adults, which can satisfy their needs of seeking thrill.
Dazu Grottoes, ChongqingDay 02Chongqing - Dazu - Chongqing
This morning, take you to Duzu and have a whole day tour to Baoding Carvings, the noted Grotto Art in Dazu County. Transfer back to Chonqqing and relax for the rest of the day. (B+L)
Descriptions: Dazu - Dazu County was first established in 758 in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Situated to the west of the Chongqing downtown, it's famed as the hometown of Chinese rock carvings. In the county, you can see Dazu Rock Carvings. Dealing with the Buddhism art, the rock carvings were made in the late Tang Dynasty (around 907) and the early Song Dynasty (around 960). Among those, the carvings on the Bei Mountain (Bei Shan) and Baoding Mountain (Baoding Shan) are particularly popular. On December 1st, 1999, the Dazu Rock Carvings was put into the list of the World Cultural Heritage.

I went to Chongqing last summer and the night view of Chongqing is really amazing which left great impression in my mind. After the dusk, myriad twinkling lights will soon greet the eyes. The panorama has fully demonstrated the majestic feature of a mountain city. Standing on the Kanjiang Pavilion located on the top of Eling Park, you will sureenjoy more than the eye could take in.
As for the hotel, we stayed in Holiday Inn Yangtze Hotel where we had a fantastic time. The staff are very welcoming. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. Our room was facing the Yangtze River. At night we had a spectacular view of this city. Staff were very friendly and they can speak and understand the basic english. We ate in western restaurant. The food here was also very great. Staying here we felt the very strong family atmosphere. Thumbs up for this hotel.
During our travel, we also went to visit the Dazu Grottoes. Worth visiting! All the cliffside carvings, ingeniously conceived with a great originality, are well-known for their variety in subject matter, richness in content, and their co-existence of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. The unfathomable Buddhist theology was combined with folkloric life stories easy to understand making people experience the temperament and interest of the laical world in the"bounds of Buddha".
