Day 04Departure from Jinan

Jinan is a famous 'spring city' for there are hundreds of springs around the city. Baotu Spring is the most noted one. In the last day of the tour, you will be taken to visit the Baotu Spring and the Black Tiger Spring. Then your journey ends in Jinan and we will see you off at the airport.(B+L)

Descriptions:
Baotu Spring - Reportedly, Baotu Spring tops the first place among the seventy-two famous springs of Jinan City, and it is also the earliest of them who was included in history records. Early in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the spring with clear and sweet water pouring out had become the top scenic spot of Jinan. In the east of the spring, there is a pavilion for visitors to make tea with boiled spring water. Located in the city center, the spring is backed by the Thousand-Buddha Mountain in the south and beautiful Daming Lake in the north. They are the three major places of interest of Jinan.

Jinan is the hub of traffic for the region and province so you''ll likely end up here if heading elsewhere in Shandong, notably Qingdao and Yantai. Most people will arrive by bus or train. When you got there, first thing you have to consider is, do you really need to take the Bus? The answer is always no, as they are extremely dirty, foul smelling and overcrowded. Taxis are the easiest options. Other options are various motorcycles, rickshaws, and other vehicles that are either unsigned or a bit flimsy-looking. These are hard to use as you have to negotiate not only the destination, but also the fare. Jinan is just not a tourist city for non-Chinese so travelling within the city can be frustrating.

Black Tiger Spring "sounding like the roar of a tiger" "spouts out through three carved tigher heads" into the city moat.
Five Dragon Pool "located on the outside of Ximen of old city of Jinan and on the north of Leyuan Bridge." Many buses (1,3,5,41,85,K50,K54,K55,K95,66,101,104).
The must see sights are Baotu Springs has several temples and pavilions. Many buses (5 41 49 66 K51 K52 K54 K59 72 80 82 85 102 106).

The temple to Confucius is in the centre oft he walled city. It is actually a temple complex with lot sof different buildings, a well and hundreds of engraved stome tablets. You need to time your visit between bus loads of tourists. As you approach the gate you will be approached by guides who offer to take you round the temple. Mosto f the signs inside are in english so I don''t think a guide is really necessary. Entrance to the temple costs 52 Yuan, which is quite expensive, but the place is well kept and restored. On teh day I was there some parts were closed (such as the kitchens where sacrifices to Confucius were prepared). Don''t miss the well with it;s fence posts that ring like bells when you slap them as if they are made from bronze (they''re not, they''re stone).

Tai''an is 90 kilometers (56 miles) from Jinan International Airport. But there are not any direct buses. Visitors should get to the bus stations of Jinan after getting off a plane, and take buses to Tai''an. In the new and old bus stations, as well as in the train station of Tai''an, there are buses to Jinan departing every 20 to 30 minutes taking about one and a half hours.Mt Tai, the first of the "Five Sacred Mountains", is located in thecentral part of Shandong Province, Mt Tai abounds in lofty peaks, deep valleys and rare cultural relics of theold days. For a long time, poets, writers and artists from various historicalperiods went to Taishan Mountain to enjoy the beauties and elegance of Taishan abundant sources of inspiration, imaginaton and creativitiesand this accounts for the large quantity of precious cultural relics.

Generally speaking, it is proper to visit Mt. Tai all the year round, while the best season is from the April to November. If you are keen to see the sunrise, you should climb the mountain in Autumn. Happen to rain or snow, great, a chance to appreciate the more fantastic scenenry. Don''t give up your plan in such days. The meals in the moutain is expensive and poor, you should be fed an enough meal at the foot of the mountain.
