Outing in Chengjiang

More surprise and excitement will haunt you as you go farther of Kunming in Yunnan province. Today you will be led to Chengjiang, Yuxi to discover more about Maotianshan National Geological Park if you stick to our recommendation. Yuxi is about 83 kilometers away from Kunming. It takes about 70 minutes' drive if you take the coach along the expressway. You can take the bus to Chengjiang directly at East Coach Station. The bus charge is about CNY20.00. It is about 1 hour and a half there. After you are in Chengjiang, you can take the taxi to Maotianshan National park, which is on the east of Chengjiang Dam, about 8 kilometers away from Chengjiang County. Mao means hat, and Tian is the equivalent of sky in English. It is named so because it resembles a strawhat in appearance. It is actually a very ordinary mountain until the discovery of the oldest and best preserved ancient oryctocoenose. The paleontologist researches and classified the animal species and the estimate is that there were about 40 categories including 100 kinds of animals. All of these are precious evidence for research of the life cycle. Spend some playful time there. Afterwards, return to Chengjiang County by bus and then take the bus to Luchong Village for the next stop - Fuxian Lake located in Longjie Town Chengjiang County. There are buses running between Chengjiang County and Luchong every day. Twenty minutes is enough for driving there. The bus fare is about CNY5.00. You don't need to worry about your lodgings in this place, because there are both hotels and guesthouses in the scenic spots. The necessary facilities are well equipped. If you stay here, you have the opportunity to enjoy the sunrise in the early morning, which offers the most spectacular perspective. Alternatively, you can have yourselves lodged in the county.

In the early morning, you should leave for the second deepest lake in China. It is also called Chengjiang Lake. It is 87 meters deep on average. The average water temperature is 17.7 degrees centigrade, which helps to make it an ideal resort for swimming. The sand is clean and soft along the beach. Some establishments have been set up to facilitate the sightseeing too much. You can pitch the camp in the lakefront, row a boat and swim on the lake. The main attractions include Luchong Village, Jieyu Stone, Gushan Island etc. The admission fee of the island is CNY15.00. What we need to mention is that it is of much danger around Gushan Island. More care should be taken if you reach there. On the west bank of Fuxian Lake locates Luchong Village. You need to be charged CNY10.00 if you come to visit here. The underground spring keeps pouring into Fuxian Lake adequately. The spring remains 24 degrees centigrade all year round. It is really the wondrous view when throngs of Kanglang fishes are caught during the harvest time. There is also a Bijia (Penholder) Hill in the village, the name is derived because it looks like a penholder in appearance. On the north lies Boxi Bay, it is a good place for swimming and some aquatic sports. As for food, you must taste the Kanglang fish with the best flavor. Your self exploration ends today.
