Dadieshui Waterfall Scenery Zone, Kunming

Kunming, in southwestern China, is known as the Spring City all over the world. Besides the famous Stone Forest, the city also abounds in numerous tourist attractions, such as the Dadieshui Waterfall Scenery Zone and the ancient A-lu Cave, which are not far away from the city.

You can take tourist bus from Kunming Passenger Station, which is just next to the railway station, to the Shilin County. The ticket fare is CNY26.00 net per person for the one and a half hour's drive. Upon arrival in Shilin County, you may find your accommodation first. For your information, you can choose to stay at Yunlin Hotel (Address: Stone Forest Scenic Area, Shilin County.) After a short rest, you may take a minibus at a cost of CNY5.00 net per person from Shilin Passenger Station to Dieshui Power Station within half an hour. Then you could either reach Dadieshui Waterfall Scenery Zone on foot or by mini vehicle, as the distance is only two kilometers. The Scenery Zone includes several spots, such as the Dadieshui Waterfall, Xiaodieshui Waterfall, Pearl Spring, Qingshui River (Clear Water River), the Fairy Cave and so on. Dadieshui Waterfall, which is also called by the name of Flying Dragon Waterfall, is the largest and the most spectacular waterfall in Yunnan Province. With a height of 120 meters and a width of 20 meters, the flow of water of Dadieshui Waterfall is even larger than the Huangguoshuo Waterfall. You will hear the great sound of the waterfall far away. When you get closer, a magnificent view of the waterfall that splash over the rocks would greet you. It is amazing that you can take cable car to fully appreciate in midair. The admission fee for the whole Scenery Zone is only CNY20.00 net per person. Return to your hotel in the afternoon. For the rest day, you can explore Shilin County at leisure.


A-Lu Cave, Kunming

The following day morning, you are suggested to visit the ancient A-Lu Cave. Minibus is available from Shilin Passenger Station to Luxi County by a drive of about an hour. Upon arrival, you may transfer to a mini vehicle (Fare: CNY5.00 net) to A-Lu Cave. Being reputed as the No. 1 Cave in Yunnan, the ancient A-Lu cave is among a cluster of the grandest underground Karst Caves. There are nine peaks and eighteen caverns in the scenic area, among which the A-Lu cave ranks the most famous and attractive one. Inside A-Lu Cave, there are three smaller dry limestone caves and one water limestone wtih underground river. Landscape of the underground A-Lu cave is similar to the Stone Forest on the ground, while it is even spectacular and mysterious for tourist. As the space in the cave is big enough, sometimes the local Yi people would perform the ethic songs and dances for tourists in the natural stage. The admission fee is CNY60.00 net per person. Return to Shilin Passenger Station by the same minibus and transfer to the tourist bus back to Kunming.
