China Great Wall Photos

The Great Wall, extensive bulwark erected in ancient China, is one of the largest building-construction projects ever carried out, running about 4,500 miles (7,300 km) east to west from Shanhaiguan Pass near Bo Hai (Gulf of Bohai) to Jiayuguan Pass (in modern Gansu Province) traversing Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Beijing, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu. Shrubs and saplings grew, their roots prizing the fill of the Wall apart, Huanghacheng Great Wall.

Great Wall in Beijing (85)

The well-preserved sections of the Great Wall in Beijing are China's most famous tourist sites. These sections are mainly the remains from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), an era of tremendous construction. The mainly sections include Badaling, Simatai, Jinshanling, Mutianyu, Gubeikou, Huanghuacheng and Jiankou (Arrow Nock).

Great Wall in Hebei (7)

Stretching out through Liaoning Province, the wall continues its way west to Hebei Province where it is well preserved. This part of the wall includes many famous spots, such as Shanhaiguan Pass, Laolongtou Great Wall (the Old Dragon's Head) and Jiaoshan Great Wall.
Some beacon towers like this one scattered in Dunhuang and each of them was guarded by soldiers in the past.

Great Wall in Gansu (39)

Gansu Province was once a natural defense which prevented the constant invasion of the northern tribes. Fortification constructions began in the region from the Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC) and were continued through the Qin, Han and Ming dynasties. The great wall of china is considered to be the most amazing & the wonder fact in the world. however it is , it is not maintained properly. why cant the govt & the people take responsibility to rebuild the damaged parts in the wall. Because in the near future , if it is not maintained properly, it may collapse or it may be destroyed , so we global citizen should take responsibility to protect our historic heritage.

Hello. I think if it is rebuilt, it will lose its historic color. And also i think the global citizen would like to see the real great wall instead of the manmade one. am i right?
