How do I get from Fenghuang to Zhenyuan ?

Oliver, you should take bus from Fenghuang to Jishou or Huaihua and then take train to Zhenyuan. It takes around 2 hours from Fenghuang to Huaihua. The ticket fare is around CNY30.

What is the best way to get to Zhenyuan from Changsha?

I was thinking of taking the bus to Huaihua, then catching a bus or train to Zhenyuan. Also, where is a good place to stay in Zhenyuan?

There is no direct way between Changsha and Zhenyuan. It is a good idea to make transfer at Huaihua. Not difficult to find a hostel or inn in the old town of Zhenyuan. The town is small. 名城宾馆 (Mingcheng Hotel) is a nice hotel inside the old town. If you want better one, you can go to the town seat to 日月国际大酒店 (Sun and Moon Int'l Hotel, 4 star), not iside the old town of Zhenyuan.

There are many flights a day from Shenzhen to Guiyang, operated by many airlines. The fare is about 500-600RMB.
