Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum Photos
The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum lies at the foot of the Wanzhu Peak, the south slope of the Zhongshan Mountain, Nanjing City, Jiangsu province. It's the mausoleum for the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) Zhu Yuanzhang and his wife Empress Ma. In 1381, Zhu Yuanzhang asked to build the mausoleum. The next year, Empress Ma passed away and in September she was buried there. The whole project was accomplished in 1383. In 1398, the emperor died and he shared the same grave with the empress. The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum lies at the southern foot of the Mt. Zhongshan, which is one of the larggest imperial tombs in China.
