Leshan Giant Buddha is renowned for being the world's tallest stone Buddha statue. Each foot of the Giant Buddha is large enough to accommodate over 100 people sitting on it. The statue was created during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) when Buddhism was prevalent. The idea of constructing the statue came from a monk, hoping that the Buddha would calm the turbulent water flow.
