- The Three Gorges Dam is located in the Sandouping, Yichang City, about 38 kilometers from the Gezhouba Dam in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is the largest hydroelectric project in the world. The two power stations installed with 26 generators can provide a great amount of clean electricity. The dam also ends the annual floods and greatly improves navigation.
