- 22 Days of Chengdu - Guer - Hongyuan - Tangke - Aba - Rangtang - Luhuo - Ganzi - Xinlong - Litang - Yading - Derong - Benzilan - Shangri-La - Baishuitai - Tiger Leaping Gorge - Lijiang
Departure: Daily
Day 01: Arrival in Chengdu
Upon arrival, check in at a local hotel and have a good rest. In the afternoon, free for wandering in the city.
Day 02: Chengdu
Visit inner city Panda Reserve Center and the Wenshu Buddha Temple for a visit. Have a cup of tea in the old tea house in old Chengdu city in the late afternoon.
Day 03: Chengdu - Guer
Drive 140km to Wenchuan. Then cycle along a branch of Ming River and visit the Taoping Qiang Village. Enjoy Qiang People's ethnic life and their aged stone houses and watchtowers. Continue cycling to Guer and relax in a hot spring.
Day 04: Guer - Hongyuan Grassland
Cycle in the beautiful Gu'er Valley for a while and then cycle into Hongyuan Grassland after crossing a 4km tunnel. En route, enjoy the amazing landscape including the watershed of Yangtze River and Yellow River. The Red Army had crossed the grassland, and thousands of soldiers dying here during the Long March.
Day 05: Hongyuan - Tangke
Cycle to Tangke, the First Bend of the Yellow River. Visit the fabulous Tibetan monastery Suokezang Si, which faces exactly the first bend. An overnight stay will offer you the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and sunrise over the spectacular site.
Day 06: Tangke - Aba
Cycle along a dusty road back to the grassland and visit the nomadic tents. Then cycle to Aba, a center of the Amdo nomads. Visit a couple of monasteries and one family of a local Buddha.
Day 07: Aba - Rangtang
Climb up to the first mountain pass for a view of the whole holy town in the golden sunshine. Then cycle to Rangtang along the upper stream of Dadu River. En route, enjoy the astonishing scenery.
Day 08: Rangtang - Luhuo
Cycle to Luhuo. View the Tibetan villages along the road. Stay overnight.
Day 09: Luhuo - Ganzi
Cycle to Ganzi, located in a large valley with grassy hills. Visit a Tibetan Monastery there.
Day 10: Ganzi
Explore Ganzi beautiful landscape and visit Tibetan houses and monasteries including Garze Monastery and Den Gompa.
Day 11: Ganzi - Xinlong
Cycle to Xinlong on a rolling road along the Yalong River, one of the major branches of the Yangtze River.
Day 12: Xinlong - Litang
Cycle to a bridge of the Yalong River. Then continue your cycling to Litang along a rough road. En route, view the unique countryside scenery. Stay overnight in a local people's family and taste delicious butter tea.
Day 13: Litang - Daocheng - Yading
Cycle to Daocheng and then to Yading via a big mountain pass. En route, enjoy the unique scenery of moraine.
Day 14: Yading
Hike the three holy mountains: Xiannairi, Yingmaiyong and Xianuoduoji.
Day 15: Yading - Derong
Cycle to Derong along a long cement road with upgrades and downgrades.
Day 16: Derong - Benzilan
Cycle to Benzilan, a small town in Yunnan. You can see cereuses in the canyon.
Day 17: Benzilan - Shangri-La
Cycle to Shangri-La along the Yangtze River via two mountain passes.
Day 18: Shangri-La
Visit the Guihua Tibetan Monastery and the wild lakes of Bitahai and Shuduhai.
Day 19: Shangri-La - Baishuitai
Departing from Shangri-La, cycle several mountain ridges to Baishuitai, the backdoor route to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Stay overnight here in a local guesthouse.
Day 20: Baishuitai - Tiger Leaping Gorge
Enter the Tiger Leaping Gorge. View and admire the great amazing natural wonder of Tiger Leaping Gorge, Visit the narrow but powerful spot of the gorge where it takes its name. (Yangtze River narrows to 70 feet here)
Day 21: Tiger Leaping Gorge - Lijiang
Cycle along the Yangtze River to get to Lijiang, the center of the creative Naxi minority group. Enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music Performance in the evening.
Day 22: Departure from Lijiang
Explore Lijiang's Old Town with unique architecture and fast flowing waterways. In the afternoon, cycle to the village of Baisha and visit Baisha Frescoes. Then cycle back to Lijiang and your bicycle tour ends here.
