Guangzhou
Guangzhou01 : Shunde and Xiqiao Hill
Pay a visit to the economically developed satellite cities and have a look at the ancient cultural remains. Xiqiao Hill is one of the most famous mountains in Guangdong, and it's also one of the nearest nature landscapes from Guangzhou.

Guangdong - Guangzhou

Guangzhou - Lianhua Mountain - Baiyun Mountain - Nankunshan Forest Park - Liuxihe Forest Park

 
The Lianhua Mountain is located in Panyu, 30 kilometers from Guangzhou downtown. It's renowned for rare rocks and strange caves. The express way leads there. The transportation between it and the downtown of Guangzhou is very convenient. 
 


Nankunshan Forest Park, Guangzhou

After a visit to the Lianhua Mountain, you may go to the Baiyun Mountain. It's located to the north of downtown Guangzhou and about 17 kilometers from the downtown. The New Baiyun International Airport just lies on the mountain. 
 
After hiking down the Mt. Baiyun, you can go to Conghua by the National Highway No.105, which is not far from the Nankunshan Forest Park. Then, go on to walk along this highway to Liangtian Village and you could see the Liuxihe Forest Park.
 
Tip: You are also suggested to have a hiking of the Luofu Mountain, which you could reach by the National Highway No.324. It's to the east of Zengcheng, about 65 kilometers from the downtown of Guangzhou.
  
 

Guangdong - Shantou

Shantou - Chaoan County - Hanjiang River - Jinzhou Island

 
You will walk for about 18 kilometers to finish the whole trip. First, you can take a bus at Shantou Center Bus Station to Chaoan County. Chaoan is located on the middle lower

reaches of the Hanjiang River, which crosses Chaoan from north to south. 
 
Upon arrival at the Hanjiang River, you may start this hiking. On the river, bamboo rafts can be seen here and there. Along the river stand lines of trees. In spring or summer, the scenery of the Hanjiang River is much more beautiful.
 
Walk along the river and you would reach Jinzhou Island in Guihu Town. On the island, you could have a close view of the antique residential houses and the ancestral temples and taste longan, olive and lichee.

 

Guangdong - Zhongshan

Zhongshan - Carefree Valley - Zhongshan

 
In Zhongshan, you can take the Bus No.39 or 66 at Zhongshan People's Hospital to go to

the Carefree Valley (Xiaoyao Gu). Also you may take the Bus No.47 at Zhongshan Port to go there at weekends or public holidays. 
 
The Carefree Valley lies in the Wugui Mountain, which covers an area of about 300 square kilometers. On the south slope of the Wugui Mountain, grand cliffs can be seen and on the north slope are the primitive forests. If you'd like to, you can climb up the highest peak of the mountain to overlook the cities in the Pearl River Delta through telescope. Moreover, you can even see Macau and the new airport of Hong Kong.
 
 

Guangdong - Zhuhai
Zhuhai - Fenghuang Mountain (Mt. Phoenix)

 
You can take the Bus No.26 at Xiangzhou Bus Station to go to the Fenghuang Mountain. Upon arrival at the foot of the mountain, you could begin this hiking along three different routes. One leads to the top of the Baishaling Ridge, another reaches the Dajingshan Reservoir and the third is called Ancient Changnan Trail, leading to the branch of Beijing Normal University. Here take an example of the Ancient Changnan Trail:
 


Zhuhai

At the foot of the Fenghuang Mountain, you may see a tower of electric wires. The mouth of the Ancient Changnan Trail is just under the tower. Then, start hiking and you would see an area of tall rushes and small pools. It takes your about 40 minutes to get to the branch of Beijing Normal University on foot.
 
Tips: 1. The Putuo Temple on the Phoenix Mountain provides vegetarian food to visitors. 
 
2. Xiangzhou Bus Station is located at No.59 Zijing Lu (Zijing Road), Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai. The bus routes via Xiangzhou Bus Station include No.4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, 26, 32, 55 and 69A. 
 

Guangdong - Shenzhen

 Shenzhen - Xiao Meisha - Maluan Mountain

Xiao Meisha is renowned for sea scenery and sandy beach while Mt. Maluan is famous for waterfalls and plum blossoms. 
 
In the downtown of Shenzhen, you're suggested to take the Bus No.425, 443, 103, 360, 364 or 365 to go to Xiao Meisha. After that, cross the Yanba Overpass and you would see Diecuihu Reservoir. Get to the dam of the reservoir and walk along the edge of the reservoir on the right lane until the joint of the lane and the mountain.
 
Then, go up along the Suxi Stream for about two hours and you could see the Shangmei Pavilion on the Mt. Maluan. On the mountain, you can go to the Maluan Cottage to see the Maluan Waterfalls and the Honghualing Reservoir.
