Kashgar 01: 8 Days Kashgar - Karakuri Lake - Kangxiwa - Kyqikaqi - Yangbulake - Qaotumak Village - Base Camp - Qaotumak Village - 204 - Kashgar
Day 01: Arrival in Kashgar

The destination of this tour is the Muztag Ata, Father of all Icepeaks, which is one of the ideal hiking destinations for experienced hikers. The suitable time for this route is from May to October. You will start walking from Kashgar. We suggest you bring your own food and plenty of water as foods sold there are poor in quality but high in price.

Upon arrival in Kashgar airport, walk towards west about 2.6 km to Shenzhen Chanye Yuan station. Take the public bus No. 26. After 14 stops, you will arrive at Shi Nu Bi West station and then walk about 600m to Kashgar Old City Youth Hostel (Add: No. 233, Wu Si Tang Bo Yi Lu, Kashgar, Xinjiang; Tel: 86-998-2823262). The hostel is situated in the old area of the city, where all the buildings are constructed in the traditional ethnic style and are very picturesque. If you want to pick up some tourism information or have a coffee, Indy's Café (Add: No. 51, Pa He Ta Ba Zha Nanlu; Tel: 86-998-2838989) is a good place.

Day 02: Kashgar - Karakuri Lake

It is about 4-5 hours driving from Kashgar to Karakuri Lake. You could take the shuttle bus to Tashkorgan and get off at Karakuri Lake. On your arrival, set up the camp for the night and make sure you get a good night's sleep for the hike ahead.

Day 03: Karakul Lake - Kangxiwa

Today, the hiking begins in earnest with the warm-up exercise. Hike along the lake for about 5-6 hours to reach Kangxiwa, which is Kirgiz Village with the altitude of 3700m. Here, you can take in the beauty of the 7719m-high Kongur which is the highest peak of Kun Lun mountain. Set up camp and rest overnight.

Day 04: Kunsiwa - Kyqikaqi

On the 4th day, you will complete a 6-hour trek to the Kyrkiz nomads' summer village from where you can see the north-east side of the Muztag Ata Mountain. The village lies on Kyqikaqi which is 3900m high. On the way, you will cross the Kunsiwa River and Daban. After completing the trek we suggest you set up camp and rest overnight.

Day 05: Kyqikaqi - Subashi Village

The trek today will be a demanding one. There are 16 glaciers on the Muztag Ata Mountain and you will climb the longest one - the Yagbulake Glacier. The hike should take approximately 6 hours. You will be climbing to an altitude of about 4300m. Please take precautions so that you are able to breathe and walk comfortably at this level. You will need to spend the night in a camp, where we advise you to keep as warm as possible.

Day 06: Subashi Village - Base Camp

Trek to the Base Camp of Muztag Ata, the first camp site for the climbing expeditions. After this you will reach the beautiful Janblak Glacier - you can spend some time here taking photos and enjoying the view if you wish. Then trek to Qiaotomark Village and set up the camp for the night stay.

Day 07: Base Camp - 204 - Kashgar

Hike about 3 hours to get to 204KM spot, where the hike ends. You can take a car back to Kashgar. If you wish to enjoy a night of comfort after camping, why not check back into the Kashgar Old City Youth Hostel for the night.

Day 08: Departure from Kashgar

You may leave Kashgar as planned or visit the famous Bazaar and other sights in the city.
Kashgar 02: 6 Days Kashgar - Karakuri Lake - Kangxiwa - Kuqikaqi - Jangburak Glacier - Base Camp - Subashy - Kashgar

Day 01: Karakuri Lake

Your hike will start at Karakuri Lake. As for how to reach the Lake, please refer to the first and second day schedule of Xinjiang-Kashgar 01.

On the first day you will hike 11.7km around the lake, which should take about 4 hours. During the hike, you have the opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding meadows and glaciers. It is best to set up the camp on the southeast side of the lake.

Day 02: Karakuri Lake - Kangsiwa

Today, you will hike for about 6 hours to the Kangsiwa Summer Pasture, where the altitude is 3500m. Set up camp and stay overnight here. As the first night stay with the high altitude, please take care and stay warm.

Day 03: Kangsiwa - Kuqukaqi

Hike about 5 hours to Kuqukaqi Pasture on the side of the Muztag Ata Mountain. Upon arrival, set up camp and enjoy the mountain scenery before resting.

Day 04: Kuqukaqi - Subashy Village

You will hike for about 6 hours today along the mountain road. Arrive at Subashy Village in the afternoon. Here, you could get some food and have a good rest.

Day 05: Subashy Village - Base Camp

Get up early in the morning and head to the Base Camp. Along the way, you will see an ancient Mazzar area on your left side, however it is closed to non-Muslims so you will only be able to take photographs from a distance. The Mazzar is the unique funeral social system in the Muslim world and is named after the Arabic word meaning the "Holy Land". Today it is also as "the tomb of the saint", indicating respect and adoration of one's ancestors. For devout Muslims, a pilgrimage to Mazzar is of great consequence. This part of the hike involves crossing 2 or 3 streams formed by the melting of the glaciers. Upon your arrival at the Base Camp, you will see the Yangbulake Glacier. Stay overnight at the Base Camp. Here you can interact with hikers and climbers from all over the world. For many people, the mountain and its glaciers offer the best natural hiking and skiing.

Day 06: Base Camp - 204KM sport - Kashgar

Your hiking will come to an end today. In the morning, trek about 3 hours to reach the final destination of this hiking - 204KM spot which is the intermediate station and is so named because it is 204KM away from Kashgar. After the tour ends, you could get back to Kashgar by car. It takes about 4 hours driving. Wish you a good journey.
