When you are at any of the major tourist spots, especially in Beijing, avoid anyone in 'traditional' dress or anyone who wants to talk to you. They always seem nice, and then after taking a photo etc, ask for an exorbitant amount of money. I saw loads of people get caught by this, esp at the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. Also happened in Guilin and Yunnan, like taking a photo with the local fisherman, or with a dressed minority girl, all of these cost your $.

To celebrate our honeymoon, my wife and I booked a deluxe tour with a travel agent in July. Some tips here to share for your coming travel. In Xian we attended the Tang Dynasty Dance and Music Show, but we found it was totally not that as we expected. Before the tour we read files of compliments about the glorious Tang Dynasty Dance and Music Performance and the Xian speciality Dumpling Dinner, but the fact turned out to be completely disappointing. Now we know that there at least five places in Xian can watch the Tang Dynasty Dance and Music Show and have the Dumpling Dinner, of which the Tang Dynasty Palace provides the best environment and service. Unfortunately, we were deceived and brought to a very shabby place. The performance was nothing to enjoy and the dinner gave us no appetite to eat. The place looked tatty and dirty. So disappointed! Tang Dynasty Palace is located at the No. 75, Chang'an Road, Xian. You could watch the performance after enjoying the dumpling dinner, or having the dinner at the hall while being entertained. That is the authentic Tang Dynasty Dance and Music Show. You could refer to this page for details. http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/shaanxi/xian/dinnershow/menu.htm Before paying the price for your tour, do check the details in your itinerary. Otherwise, you would pay more money but get the worse service. Like this website, which have listed the specific address on the page would be more trustful. Be more careful before, then ensure you would have a better trip.
