Get up early and inquire where the locals do their shopping for meal supplies. Going to a food market (each city has one) is incredibly enriching and gives you appreciation for how hard working these people are. First the farmers who tote their goods on their shoulders (we saw women who looked to be in their 80''s doing this) and, for the woman who has to choose and usually clean her purchase. Stick around, buy some fruit (China is filled with incredibly delicious fruits). Buy some fresh Din Sum from a street vendor and make it part of your day before heading to more frequented tourist sights. Some of the most fun was the stares we would get wondering about the back streets. We''ve been told they are not used to seeing Westerners in places we wondered into. Our favorite markets were in Xian and Guilin.

Train is the main transportation meals in China. Our guide told us the railway station is one busiest place in China. We visited China this May and just came across the May Day Holiday - Golden Week Holiday in China. Usually the travel agency always arrange the guide to enter the station to pick up the visitors. But during the periods of May Day Holiday, National Day Holiday and Spring Festival Holiday, station platform tickets are not sold and the guide cannot enter the station to pick up or see off the clients. All the visitors must manage it by ourselves. China is really a large population country. I believe not only at the train station, anywhere must be flooded with people during the holidays. Traveling becomes a kind of suffering instead of enjoyment.

I heard that peaboat is quite interesting in Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen or any other water town in China. I was curious to take a chance to enjoy that peaboat. But when I was about to have a try (in Zhouzhuang), I saw a boat stuffed with 20 people (seens the boat could have no more than 15) waving trembly along the river. I was scared. They did not wear the life jacket (as no life jacket is provided). (sweating...)
I gave up trying that pea boat as I did not wish to take a risk to swim in that river.
