Great Wall, Beijing
Photo by our client Mr. Hendrik Jan Schagen with his feedbackDay 01Arrival in Beijing
Our guide will meet you outside the customs of Beijing Airport after you retrieve your luggage and clear the customs, and then transfer you to the hotel in downtown Beijing. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.
Meals: No meals
Accommodation: The Peninsula PalaceTips: Beijing is a historic city full of cultural sites and refined scenery. Four days are definitely not enough for you to explore it all. If you arrive in Beijing early in the day, you could take a taxi to the newly renovated Qianmen Street on your own. It will take about 10 minutes from your hotel to get there. Along the street you will see Qing Dynasty-style buildings, sample traditional Beijing snacks, explore antique stores and maybe even see an old Beijing cultural performance. Many old Beijing brands like Quanjude roast duck, Guanghe theatre and tea inns can be found here. It is a good place for you to enjoy the culture of old Beijing.
Our consultant Kelly with her clientsDay 02Beijing
Today's sightseeing visits cover the grand Tiananmen Square, the majestic Forbidden City and the sacred Temple of Heaven. After enjoying a fabulous Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre, we will transfer you to have a tasty Beijing Duck Dinner at the time-honored Qianmen Quanjude restaurant. Our guide will help you with the meal arrangement and then you enjoy the Beijing-flavored dish with every bite of the crisp but juicy duck. After the dinner, please take a taxi back to the hotel on your own. It is easy for you to find a taxi there and the fee is no more than CNY15.00. What's more, please bear in mind that drinks are not included in the dinner. You can order and pay it by yourself.

Accommodation: Shangri-La Hotel - Deluxe Riverview RoomTips: If you would like to take the time to wander around Guilin after arrival, we recommend you go to the Central Square. The square is located about 4 kilometers (2.4 miles) southwest of your hotel. It costs about CNY13.00 to take a taxi there. Considered as the 'hall' of Guilin City, Central Square abuts Rong Lake, Shan Lake and Li River. A map of the world made of granite and inscribed with names of 311 cities, is at the center of the square. You may find your home there! There is a high-tech choreographed musical fountain with water columns up to 60 meters. There is also an underground shopping mall where you may also be interested.
Fantastic Li River cruise, GuilinDay 08Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin
Enduring memories are created today as you cruise down Li River to Yangshuo. Upon arrival, you will take a short bicycle trip to the countryside of Yangshuo and visit a local villager's home to experience the farmer's lifestyle there along the way. Alternatively, we will transfer you there instead of riding bicycles. Though both bicycles and car transfer are provided as options, we highly recommend you to ride a bicycle if you are capable of it. It is a better way to enjoy the pastoral scenery of Yangshuo. Afterwards, we will transfer you back to Guilin.
Meals: American breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Shangri-La Hotel - Deluxe Riverview RoomTips: Today's lunch onboard the cruise ship may fail to meet with your approval and TravelChinaGuide is aware of the shortcomings. You should prepare for the cruise with a generous breakfast at the hotel.

Meals: American breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: The Peninsula ShanghaiTips: This evening we would like to recommend the newly renovated recreational district, Xin Tian Di (New World, New Heaven and Earth), for your free exploration. It is not far from your hotel, so taking taxi is quite convenient. Xin Tian Di area was restored from the old Shikumen neighborhood, a type of tenement found only in old Shanghai. Now these old stone buildings are reconstructed into boutiques, clubs and restaurants. The Wu Li Xiang House, meaning Open House, is the best kept old Shanghai style house in Xin Tian Di area. It is like a Shanghai family museum. If you are interested, we suggest you visit it by yourself after dinner. Xin Tian Di also assembles the various Shanghai food and it is easy for you to find a restaurant or café to sample your dinner there.
