When we left for home after our china vacation, our luggage exceeded a whopping 35 kg and we had to cajole and beg the airline to take us in. Catherine and I feel that China's shopping certainly offers the best value for $ when buying local goods and produce. Don't bother bringing an empty luggage. Buy one in China itself at only 20% or what it costs in Singapore.

Buy cheap and good dried seafood along the coastal cities e.g. Qingdao and Dalien. Go for the high end stuff such as scallops and abalones. Easily 1/4 what you would pay elsewhere. Clothes and winter wear are of top class quality at only 10% or Europe's prices. Forget about the snob appeal of branded goods, China-made goods will be just as beautiful and lasting. Don't forget to bargain, Even in big department stores prices can be slashed from 500 yuan to 150. Thankfully no GST or VAT in China.
