We read about a temple or something similar on a hill Erhai? which is also like a hotel, is there a possibility to be one night there? It should be very exiting.

Erhai is a lake. I wonder if you mean that Cangshan Mountain near it. I remember there is no hotel on the hill.
What is weather likely to be in Dali & Lijiang in August ? Are ATMs readily available in Dali & Lijiang ?
Jul. 29,2009 03:43 Ms.Peggy replied:
Dali's weather fluctuates each season but with an annual mean temperature ranging from 12C to 19 C (54F-66F). As such, Dali is a favorite tourist destination all year round. Due to its higher altitude, Dali is slightly colder than Kunming. Its rainy season begins in June and last till October. The hottest days are in July with average temperature of 22C (72F) while the coldest in January at 8C (46F).
Lijiang has a clear annual distinction between the wet and dry seasons. The wet season spans May to October, with plenty of rainfall. From November to April belongs to the dry season. Additionally, because of its high average elevation, Lijiang has abundant sunshine all year round, favored with fresh air and charming natural scenery. Of course, don't forget to protect yourself from the strong radiation from the sun.
Yes. The ATM machines are available in most of the hotels and airports. You can also transact through a bank clerk. The working hours are 9: 00-17: 30 from Monday to Friday. They only work between the hours of 9:00 - 15:00 on weekends. So you are encouraged to transact businesses during the normal working days of the week.
Yunnan enjoys pleasant climate all year round. Especially Kunming, its capital city, bears the fame of 'the City of Eternal Spring'. Therefore, the temperature is generally pleasant to travel in major tourism cities in the province. By the way, the rainy season there is from May to October.
How long is from Lijiang to Shangri-La(Zhongdian)?
Jun. 19,2009 02:22 Ms.Lea Ping replied:
The transfer from Lijiang to Shangri-La(Zhongdian) costs 5 hours without any visit on the way. However, the sights along the way is really attractive, you will take more time for sure.
I need specifics about air fare, meals cost, and added cost of guides at various cities if any.

Could anyone tell me if there is a lot of climbing needed at Yunnan's Stone forest? I'm taking my 82-year-old mother to Kunming, and wondered if it was worth while going to the stone forest, since she can't climb.
Dec. 23,2008 16:26 Della replied:
Generally speaking, there are some ups and downs when visiting the Stone Forests. But there aren't many steps or much climbing involved. If your dear mother has good health and is energetic, there is no problem to visit that.
Guilin to Longsheng- buses run regularly during the day from the bus station in Guilin- not the one at the train station, head out of the train staion and turn left at the main rd - up about two blocks and then turn left - you will find the bus station. When you arrive at Longsheng bus station you will see buses that say Ping'an- take these to get to the Rice fields at Longji. We have just come back from there and the place is gorgeous, although it has become touristy in the last couple of years. Still- it is amazing and I would recommend a visit- Best place to stay is View Place Inn- right at the top of the hills, reasonable price, great rooms, fantastic views, scruptious food, lovely people- what more could you ask for. Steep climb up to the village, pay the 20 yuan and let the locals carry your bags while you wander along and enjoy the walk.Have a good time!
I enjoyed the tour in Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Dali and Lijiang last autumn. I had visited the Stone Forest so I went to the Expo Garden instead. That was a memorable experience! Tea Garden, Chinese Medicine Herbs Garden and Vegetable and Fruit Garden were all included. I also had a chance to taste Yunnan Puer Tea. Actually tea in Yunnan varies. Someone told me to have a cup of tea in a place called Tea Culture Research Center of Yunnan Agricultural Institute. That was not very necessary. There were many places where you can enjoy it. I took an afternoon flight to Xishuangbanna so time was enough to stay at the Expo Garden.
In Xishuangbanna, the Tai Culture Garden and the Aini minority village impressed me most. The Plant Reaserch Institute was OK, just a little bit far.
Anyone, who wants to visit these places, can have a medical food if you like. And you'd better enjoy it in Kunming as a dinner since meals in other place may not meet your expectation, I am afraid.
